Job Description

We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented, and highly motivated Senior Accountant to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of pharmacy clients, overseeing accounting and bookkeeping functions, preparing financial and management reports, ensuring compliance with Australian taxation requirements, and providing guidance and mentorship to junior and intermediate accountants. This role requires strong technical accounting expertise, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to build trusted relationships with both clients and internal stakeholders.

  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7 AM – 4 PM (PH Time)
  • Work Set up: Onsite
  • Salary range: PHP 70,000 - 120,000

In this role, you will:

  • Manage end-to-end accounting functions for a portfolio of Australian pharmacy clients.
  • Review and oversee Bank Reconciliations, Petty Cash Reconciliations, Credit Card Reconciliations, Loan Reconciliations, and General Ledger Maintenance.
  • Perform and review balance sheet reconciliations and investigate material variances.
  • Review and analyze monthly debtor accounts including PBS owing, customer debtors, inter-store trading, scripts owing, shop accounts, donations, bad debts, and owner accounts.
  • Manage creditor reconciliations including invoice processing, supplier communications, and payment reviews.
  • Review stock on hand reconciliations and inventory-related reporting.
  • Review annual leave, personal leave, and long service leave entitlement reconciliations.
  • Prepare and review hire purchase schedules and financing reconciliations.
  • Prepare and review Business Activity Statements (BAS), Payroll Tax Returns, and other compliance lodgements.
  • Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Analyze financial performance and prepare management reports with meaningful business insights.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of general ledger accounts and trial balances.
  • Review asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
  • Reconcile GST accounts and ensure compliance with Australian taxation requirements.
  • Review sales reconciliations against Point of Sale (POS) reports and investigate material discrepancies.
  • Reconcile cash, EFTPOS takings, dispensary income, and PBS income.
  • Review inter-store account reconciliations and related transactions.
  • Identify risks, discrepancies, and process improvement opportunities.
  • Act as a key escalation point for complex accounting matters.
  • Maintain high-quality service standards and adherence to client deadlines.
  • Provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentorship to Intermediate and Junior Accountants.
  • Review work completed by team members and provide constructive feedback.
  • Assist with staff training and professional development initiatives.
  • Support management in workflow planning, resource allocation, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and serve as a trusted advisor where required.
  • Protect the organization's value by maintaining strict confidentiality of financial information.

We're Looking for Someone Who has:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy, Accounting Technology, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA qualification or progress toward CPA/CA certification is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of accounting experience, including experience in Australian accounting environments.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a senior, supervisory, or review capacity.
  • Strong experience with Australian SME accounting and compliance requirements.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing financial statements, BAS, payroll tax returns, and management reports.
  • Strong understanding of Australian taxation principles and reporting requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring and reviewing the work of junior accounting staff.
  • Previous experience working with pharmacy or healthcare industry clients.
  • Experience managing a portfolio of Australian clients.
  • Exposure to workflow management and team leadership responsibilities.
  • Experience in process improvement and automation initiatives.

Technical Skills:

  • Familiarity with Australian accounting standards and cloud-based accounting technologies.
  • Extensive experience using Xero and/or MYOB.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
