Job Description

The Seed Production Research (SPR) Assistant will support the Seed Production Operations by contributing to the development of seed production technologies and research protocols. This role involves assisting in the execution of research trials and providing technical support to internal stakeholders as part of technology transfer initiatives. The position plays a key role in ensuring the successful adoption of newly developed production technologies and maintaining high-quality outputs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify seed production challenges through surveys and focus group discussions (FGDs) and develop research recommendations.
  • Conduct on-farm research trials and testing in seed production areas, including the establishment of trials and demonstration plots.
  • Oversee farm and trial operations to ensure proper implementation of cultural management practices and adherence to research protocols.
  • Organize and conduct training sessions and field days for Seed Production staff and farmers.
  • Support farmers in the transfer and adoption of new seed production technologies.
  • Collaborate with Seed Production (SP), Quality Assurance (QA), Foundations Seeds/Stock Seeds (FS/SS), and other departments on project planning, implementation, and technology adoption.
  • Prepare and submit reports in accordance with established timelines.
  • Develop training manuals and modules for internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Agriculture major in Plant Pathology/Soil Science/Entomology
  • Background on seed production and seed production technology generation of vegetable crops is an advantage Experience:
  • Experience in agricultural research or other related works
  • Experience on technology transfer coupled with persuasion and influencing skills to farmers and other stakeholders
  • Strong research ability in statistical analytic background
  • Proficiency in computer skills on standard office software such as google, microsoft and other related research platforms in analytics
  • Technical writing & result presentation
  • Driving skills in either motorcycle or 4-wheeled vehicle is an advantage
