Job Description

Job Purpose:

The Section Manager – Fruits & Vegetables is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the fruits and vegetables section in the retail store. This includes ensuring product quality, maintaining stock levels, supervising staff, and delivering excellent customer service while meeting sales and profitability targets.

Key Responsibilities:

Operations Management

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the fruits and vegetables section.
  • Ensure proper display, rotation, and replenishment of products.
  • Monitor freshness, quality, and hygiene standards in line with company policies.

Inventory & Stock Control

  • Manage stock levels to minimize wastage and shrinkage.
  • Coordinate with suppliers for timely delivery of fresh produce.
  • Conduct regular inventory checks and maintain accurate records.

Sales & Customer Service

  • Achieve sales targets and contribute to overall store profitability.
  • Provide excellent customer service and handle inquiries or complaints.
  • Implement promotional activities and seasonal displays to boost sales.

Staff Supervision & Training

  • Lead, train, and motivate section staff to ensure efficiency and productivity.
  • Schedule shifts and assign tasks to team members.
  • Monitor staff performance and provide feedback for improvement.

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health regulations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the section.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Retail Management, Agriculture, or related field (preferred).
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in retail, preferably in fresh produce or FMCG.
  • Strong knowledge of fruits and vegetables handling, storage, and quality standards.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Customer-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Sales growth and profitability of the section.
  • Shrinkage and wastage levels.
  • Customer satisfaction scores.
  • Staff productivity and retention.
  • Compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
