About the Role: The Section Manager – Accounting is responsible for managing the accounting operations of the retail store. This includes overseeing financial transactions, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, preparing reports, supervising staff, and supporting management in achieving financial accuracy and efficiency.
Responsibilities
Financial Operations
- Supervise daily accounting activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and cash management.
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial transactions and entries.
- Monitor reconciliation of accounts and resolve discrepancies.
Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management.
- Analyze financial data to support decision-making and operational improvements.
- Provide insights on cost control, profitability, and budget performance.
Compliance & Controls
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and government regulations.
- Implement internal controls to safeguard assets and prevent fraud.
- Support audits and inspections by providing accurate documentation.
Staff Supervision & Training
- Lead, train, and motivate accounting staff to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
- Assign tasks, schedule work, and monitor staff performance.
- Provide coaching and feedback to improve productivity and compliance.
Coordination & Communication
- Collaborate with other store sections to ensure smooth financial operations.
- Liaise with external auditors, banks, and government agencies as needed.
- Communicate financial policies and updates to relevant stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred).
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in accounting, preferably in retail or FMCG.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and compliance standards.
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office applications.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
