About the Role : The Sea Freight Supervisor is responsible for assisting in the development of the national business strategy for Sea Freight so it translates to the annual plan and budget for the Philippines. He is also responsible for attaining GEODIS Key Performance Indicators, as well as those of the customers. This position reports directly to the Head of Operations.
Responsibilities :
Leadership
- Supervision of export/import department, which may include financial issues, business and people development
- Management of department administration and company policy
- Monitor overall activities and manage the team in order to achieve the company's objectives
- Achieve service excellence aligned to corporate operational standards
- Assist in establishing procedures and staffing (hiring / right-sizing) of the department of anchoring on maintaining high standards of shipping operations, service quality, reliability, and profitability.
- Enforce productivity, quality, and profitability requirements in accordance with company needs
- Develop and maintain relationships with overseas agents, shipping lines, customers and other industry players, within the framework of Geodis central supplier agreements
- Training, coaching and supervision of export/import team towards maximum performance and job satisfaction
- Willing to perform tasks which may be assigned due to call of business
Business
- Work on service excellence to ensure 0% loss accounts due to operational failure.
- Assist in providing customer quotations, answer RFQ (Request for quotation) to Network, support Sales Department with rates negotiation.
- Maintain quality standards for operational export procedures and improve them where necessary
- Work towards meeting customs demands while following Geodis strategy and policy
- Master the export/import process, actively and to support team
- Establish and maintain a good working relationship with suppliers as well as internally with other departments
- Provide customer service to the clients, liaison with specific customers to maintain customer base
- Promote company-wide quality improvement efforts
Finance and Administration
- Assist in meeting set budget and sales goals
- Assist in ensuring proper job-costing and accurate monthly Gross Profit figures
- Help to deal with suppliers and customer queries, including questions regarding accounts
- Arrange collections and deliveries
- Assure timely billing as per company policy
Requirements:
- More than 10 years experience freight forwarding and logistics industry
- At least 3 years experience in a managing role or trained
- Good knowledge in the overall Sea Export/Import tasks and process flows
- Good knowledge of computer systems, applications and tools
- Well-connected to the shipping lines
