SD-WAN Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing Software-Defined Wide Area Networks (SD-WAN) to optimize network performance and security across multiple locations. This includes tasks like developing network topologies, implementing SDN solutions, and troubleshooting network issues.
Key Responsibilities
Design and Implementation:
- Developing network topologies, designing and implementing SD-WAN solutions, and creating network templates.
System Engineering
- Performing system engineering services throughout the project lifecycle, including documentation and configuration management.
Troubleshooting And Support
- Identifying and resolving network issues, providing technical support, and optimizing network performance.
Integration And Testing
- Integrating and testing SD-WAN prototypes in operational environments, working with sponsors to ensure successful deployments.
Security
- Ensuring network security principles and access control policies are followed, and addressing security concerns related to SD-WAN.
Collaboration
- Working with other teams (e.g., SRE, security) and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and operation of SD-WAN.
Documentation
- Creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation related to network configurations, designs, and best practices.
Training And Support
- Providing training and support to operational teams on SD-WAN technologies.
Policy Governance
- Ensuring compliance with infrastructure standards and policies.
Minimum Qualifications
Skills and Qualifications:
- Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of SD-WAN technologies, networking principles, and security best practices.
- Technology: Cisco, Sliverpeak, Fortinet, VeloCloud
- Experience: Experience with Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) and other Cisco SDN components is often required.
- Problem-Solving: Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Communication: Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with various teams and stakeholders.
- Documentation: Ability to create and maintain clear and concise technical documentation.
- Client-Facing Skills: Some roles may require client-facing experience for presentations, demonstrations, and relationship building.
