Scrum Master / Agile Delivery Lead

Role Summary

The Scrum Master is a servant leader and delivery enabler who helps teams effectively apply agile principles in a complex and evolving technology environment. The role focuses on creating transparency around progress and risks, facilitating alignment, supporting continuous improvement, and establishing the conditions for sustainable delivery.

The Scrum Master will work closely with Product Owners, engineers, quality specialists, architects, operations teams, and business stakeholders, while ensuring product and technical accountabilities remain with the appropriate owners.

Key Responsibilities

Agile Delivery Leadership

• Facilitate Scrum events, including Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, Sprint Retrospective, and Backlog Refinement.
• Coach teams on Scrum principles, agile ways of working, self-management, and continuous improvement.
• Establish effective working agreements and promote a collaborative, transparent, and accountable delivery culture.
• Support Product Owners in maintaining a clear, prioritized, and sufficiently refined backlog aligned with business objectives.
• Promote small, usable increments and regular feedback rather than activity-based delivery or status-only reporting.

Delivery Excellence

• Enable teams to deliver software solutions predictably and sustainably while maintaining appropriate quality standards.
• Identify, manage, and help remove impediments affecting team performance and delivery commitments.
• Make risks, assumptions, dependencies, and delivery constraints visible and facilitate timely decisions and escalations.
• Provide stakeholders with clear visibility into progress, priorities, delivery forecasts, risks, and outcomes.
• Use practical team and flow metrics to identify constraints and support continuous improvement.
• Encourage effective software delivery practices, including automated testing, CI/CD, release readiness, production feedback, and operational support.

AI & Automation Solution Delivery

• Facilitate delivery activities for teams developing software, workflow automation, and AI-enabled solutions.
• Partner with Product Owners, technical leads, and business stakeholders to align delivery plans, priorities, dependencies, and expectations.
• Help teams balance experimentation, learning, and innovation with realistic delivery commitments.
• Ensure risks, assumptions, quality expectations, and business impacts are visible throughout the delivery lifecycle.
• Foster collaboration among business stakeholders, software engineers, automation specialists, data and AI practitioners, and operational users.
• Support solutions from discovery and experimentation through development, validation, release, and continuous improvement.

Continuous Improvement & Stakeholder Alignment

• Facilitate retrospectives that result in practical actions and measurable improvements.
• Help teams improve quality, efficiency, predictability, and delivery maturity.
• Build strong relationships with business leaders, Product Owners, technology teams, and delivery partners.
• Facilitate discussions to create alignment, resolve conflicts, and support timely decisions.
• Share effective agile delivery practices and lessons learned across teams and stakeholders.

Required Experience & Qualifications

• At least 3 years of experience as a Scrum Master or Agile Delivery Lead supporting software development or digital product teams.
• Strong practical knowledge of Scrum principles and agile software delivery practices.
• Experience facilitating cross-functional teams through Scrum events and iterative delivery.
• Experience identifying and managing risks, dependencies, impediments, and stakeholder expectations.
• Ability to influence teams and stakeholders without direct authority.
• Experience working with distributed or global teams.
• Strong communication, facilitation, coaching, relationship management, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience using Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or comparable delivery management tools.
• Curiosity and willingness to learn emerging technologies, including AI-enabled solutions and automation platforms.
• Ability to work on a schedule that provides meaningful overlap with North America business and technology partners.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant professional experience.

Preferred Experience

• Experience supporting teams delivering automation, workflow, digital transformation, data, analytics, or AI-enabled solutions.
• Exposure to modern software delivery practices such as:
• DevOps
• CI/CD
• Automated testing
• Cloud platforms
• Production support
• Experience in benefits administration, outsourcing, financial services, healthcare, or other regulated/operationally complex environments.
• Scrum or Agile certification such as CSM, PSM, SAFe Scrum Master, or equivalent.
