Position Summary: This role involves researching, completing, and submitting all necessary documentation to secure required zoning approvals and permits. It also includes validating all zoning and permitting documents before issuing Notice to Proceed (NTP) packages and processing payments (purchase orders) to the appropriate offices. Extensive training in telecommunications will be provided to ensure your success in this position.
An SAQ Zoning and Permitting Specialist is expected to:
- Effectively communicate and build relationships with various jurisdictions.
- Research and evaluate telecommunication requirements in local zoning and permitting ordinances.
- Update and compile zoning trackers with detailed information on zoning and permitting requirements for each jurisdiction.
- Maintain site updates on zoning and permitting in the Master Tracker.
- Package and ship applications as needed.
- Track application submissions to jurisdictions.
- Scan and upload documents to the customer database.
- Follow up with jurisdictions on permit and zoning approvals.
- Demonstrate strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Identify permitted use areas, challenging jurisdictions, filing deadlines, approval time frames, application requirements, and zoning codes.
- Assist with public hearing investigation and preparation for submissions.
- Assist in preparing hearing packages (e.g., Plan Commission Boards, ZBA Hearing Boards) to obtain necessary zoning relief for each site.
- Coordinate with local utility, DOT, railroad, police and fire departments, and state-owned properties.
- Review and analyze third-party independent engineering reports.
- Review zoning and construction drawings to ensure compliance with zoning codes and design requirements.
- Mentor and train Zoning and Permitting Specialists.
- Address and resolve zoning and permitting issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What it takes to be part of our team:
- Three years of experience in zoning and permitting preferred.
- Bacheloru0027s degree in Urban Planning or a related discipline.
- Experience in zoning or urban planning is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Above-average organizational skills.
