Job Description

An SAP MM/Procurement (Functional Consultant) job involves implementing, configuring, and supporting the SAP Material Management (MM) module to manage procurement and inventory processes. Key responsibilities include gathering client requirements, configuring the system for procurement operations like purchase orders and goods receipts, managing master data, and providing user training and ongoing support. The role requires strong problem-solving, configuration, and testing skills, and is responsible for ensuring the MM module integrates with other SAP modules and meets business needs.

Key responsibilities

  • Client and requirements management:
  • Gather and analyze business requirements from stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand and improve their business processes.
  • System configuration:
  • Configure the SAP MM module for a variety of scenarios, including procurement and inventory management.
  • Set up enterprise structure, such as organizational units and plants.
  • Implement and maintain master data like vendor and material master data.
  • Configure processes such as purchase requisitions, goods receipts, and invoice verification.
  • Customize release strategies for purchase orders and other documents.
  • Testing and implementation:
  • Develop and execute test cases for unit, integration, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Document test results and provide summary reports.
  • Support the go-live process and troubleshoot issues after deployment.
  • Documentation and training:
  • Create and maintain functional specifications, user manuals, and other technical documentation.
  • Train end-users on how to use the SAP MM module effectively.
  • Ongoing support:
  • Provide post-go-live support and manage change requests.
  • Analyze and resolve issues and support tickets related to the MM module.
  • Ensure smooth integration with other SAP modules like FI and CO.

Essential skills and qualifications

  • Experience with SAP MM module implementation and support.
  • Proficiency in configuring core SAP MM processes (e.g., procure-to-pay, goods receipt, inventory management).
  • Strong understanding of master data management in SAP.
  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA and Fiori apps is often required, especially for newer roles.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to conduct and manage system and user acceptance testing.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field is typically required.
  • Relevant SAP certifications are an advantage.
