Overview
We are seeking a skilled SAP BW / SAP DI Operations Consultant to support, monitor, and optimize SAP data architectures. This role focuses on incident resolution, observability, and operational stability for data extraction, integration, and modeling processes, ensuring high availability, performance, and minimal disruption to business-critical systems. This role has a strong focus on the SAP Data ecosystem, maintaining robust extraction pipelines and in-memory architectures.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and support SAP BW and SAP DI pipelines, objects, and connections across production environments.
- Lead and support L2 incident and service requests, including critical incidents/war rooms, ensuring quick troubleshooting, rapid resolution, and escalation to L3 when required.
- Perform initial root cause analysis (RCA) and document findings, preventive actions, and resolution steps for extraction, transformation, and load failures.
- Analyze Process Chains and DI task executions to detect anomalies, performance bottlenecks, and prevent recurrence.
- Collaborate with Architecture and Development teams for bug fixes, transports, and architectural improvements.
- Suggest continuous improvement in monitoring, alerting, automation, and operational processes within the SAP data ecosystem.
- Manage tickets using ITSM tools (ServiceNow/JIRA) in line with SLAs.
- Proactively check monitoring incidents and contribute to performance optimization for HANA In-Memory architectures and DI workflows.
- Adaptable to On-Call shifts and schedules as needed.
- Documentation of War Rooms, critical issues, and handovers to the next shift.
Required Skills & Experience- 5-8 years of experience in production support / operations of enterprise data warehousing architectures.
- SAP BW Knowledge:
- Data modeling focused on the HANA In-Memory architecture.
- LSA++ (Layered Scalable Architecture) principles and implementation.
- Data extraction and integration.
- Modernized InfoProviders objects: Knowledge in the creation and maintenance of Advanced DataStore Objects (ADSO) and CompositeProviders.
- Full familiarity with the modeling and development perspective based on Eclipse / Hana Studio (Modeling Tools).
- Understanding the creation and consumption of CDS Views.
- Creation, monitoring, and maintenance of Process Chains.
- SAP DI (Data Intelligence) Knowledge:
- Creation and maintenance of Connections in the DI Launchpad Connection Management.
- Creation and maintenance of Replication Flows in the DI Launchpad Modeler.
- Creation and maintenance of tasks.
- Extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of SAP S/4HANA tables.
- Monitoring of executions.
- Strong troubleshooting skills in data integration and enterprise environments.
- Experience handling critical incidents and on-call support.
- Familiarity with ITIL processes and ITSM tools (ServiceNow, JIRA).
- Fluent in English for communicating with Global teams during War Rooms.
