SAP BI & Analytics

JOB PURPOSE

The Senior Engineer participates in the development and support of reporting solutions primarily using the company's SAP Business Warehouse/HANA/Business Objects (BI/BW/BOBJ) application, as well as SAP SLT.

This position will also participate in all phases of the development. Position is responsible for the design and front-end development using all BOBJ applications, Report Scheduling and Publication, Platform administrations. This Position is also responsible for design and back-end development using BW system and HANA Database.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior Engineer will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following activities:

• Works from functional/business requirements to design and develop data sources (install standard data sources, enhance existing data sources and create custom data sources).
• Works from functional/business requirements to design and develop BW objects (installation of standard objects, enhance existing objects and create custom objects) like info objects, info sources, data targets, transfer rules, update rules etc.
• Works from functional/business specifications to develop SAP BI/BW/BOBJ reports primarily using Bex, Infoproviders, and all BW components. Including HANA views as back-end source
• Works with the SAP BI/BW/BOBJ team to meet reporting requirements and test the project deliverables.
• Optimization of the HANA/BOBJ/BW/SLT systems.
• Documents test plans and complete Unit Testing of developed objects and reports.
• Works with Quality Assurance business resources to complete System and Integration Testing.
• Analyzes and communicates report development issues, including problems with data integrity, data design, and functional and technical software issues.
• Prepares project related documentation (object designs, business rules, technical information etc) during the different stages of the project.
• Provides support and maintenance of the existing SAP BI/BW/BOBJ environments (development, quality assurance and production).
• Perform other duties as assigned. Review existing infra-structure and perform capacity planning for future needs
• Perform further automation and optimization of the BW system. As well as optimization of HANA views (SQL and Calculation Views)
• Perform HANA Administrator tasks (User and Role Maintenance)
• Provides support to the SLT system.

Issues, roadblocks, and impediments are to be addressed by discussions, compromises, etc. with related roles (BU/Market Stakeholders, Domain Owner, Product Owner).

Ultimately, the Product Owner (PdO) has the last call regarding prioritization within the Product, and the organization (incl. BUs) has to honor that decision.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Educational Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in MIS / Business / IT or a similar subject with strong exposure to information technology.

Relevant

Experience

• A minimum of 8 years experience with SAP BW 7.0 to 7.5 is required
• A minimum of 3 years experience with SAP HANA is required.
• A minimum of 5 years experience with SAP BOBJ 4.3 is required.
• A minimum of 3 years experience with SAP R3 (MM, PP, SD, FICO) and EWM is preferred.
• Experience in independent solution development and implementation (related to the respective domain area), with self-confidence in discussions and arguments with decision authorities
• Business-fluent English knowledge,
• in general and specific to the functional area on hand
• Having been a Product Team Members (PTM) with correspondingly deep functional and technical experience in a related domain (as Engineer, Specialist etc.) strongly recommended

DOMAIN / PRODUCT-SPECIFIC SKILLS

Strong expertise on the following applications, to support SAP full life cycle implementation:

• Highly Analytical and Data-Oriented:
• Proven ability to analyze complex data sets, identify patterns, and translate business requirements into technical specifications.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Interface Format Expertise:
• Extensive experience with various interface formats, including XML, X12, IDOC, EDIFACT, CSV, Excel, etc.
• Extensive experience in HANA Database, data engineering and modelling, Stored Procedures,
• Ability to understand and interpret complex data structures within these formats.
• SAP Mapping Experience.
• SAP ABAP development for BW objects.
• Demonstrated experience in report/interface mapping using SAP Standard Tables or BAPI Tables/Fields.
• Familiarity with SAP data models and data dictionary.
• File Transfer Protocol Knowledge:
• Solid understanding and practical experience with different file transfer protocols such as SFTP, API, ODATA, CPI (Cloud Platform Integration), and AS2.
• Ability to configure and troubleshoot connectivity issues related to these protocols is a plus.
• SAP Module Experience:
• Hands-on experience with SAP SD (Sales and Distribution), MM (Materials Management), and EWM (Extended Warehouse Management).
• Ability to create and understand end-to-end transactions within these SAP modules.
• Testing Expertise:
• Proficient in test script creation and execution across various testing phases, including Baseline Testing, Functional Testing, Systems Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and Regression Testing.
• Experience with test management tools is a plus.
• Business Process Familiarity:
• Familiarity with key sales, distribution, and warehouse processes, including Inbound Shipment, Quality Assurance (QA), Outbound Order, Customer Returns, Warehouse Management, Subcontracting/Repackaging, etc.
• Ability to understand the business impact of integration solutions.
• Communication and Collaboration:
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
