Job Description

Position Summary

The Sales Manager is responsible for driving business growth by developing and managing sales opportunities within the food and beverage packaging industry. The role focuses on acquiring new customers, expanding existing accounts, and building long-term partnerships with food manufacturers, beverage companies, co-packers, distributors, and other key industry stakeholders. The Sales Manager collaborates with internal teams to deliver packaging solutions that meet customer requirements while achieving revenue and profitability objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development

  • Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities within the food and beverage packaging market.
  • Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve revenue, volume, and profitability targets.
  • Build and maintain a healthy sales pipeline through prospecting, networking, referrals, and industry events.
  • Expand market share by targeting strategic accounts and emerging customer segments.

Account Management

  • Manage relationships with existing customers to drive repeat business and account growth.
  • Conduct regular business reviews to understand customer needs and identify opportunities for additional products or services.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through responsive communication and effective issue resolution.
  • Negotiate commercial terms, contracts, and pricing within approved company guidelines.

Sales Execution

  • Prepare and deliver product presentations, commercial proposals, quotations, and contract negotiations.
  • Coordinate with technical, operations, supply chain, and customer service teams to ensure successful project implementation and order fulfillment.
  • Monitor sales performance, forecasts, and pipeline activities using CRM and sales reporting tools.
  • Achieve individual sales targets while supporting overall team objectives.

Market Intelligence

  • Monitor industry trends, customer requirements, competitor activities, and pricing strategies.
  • Provide market insights to support product development, pricing decisions, and business planning.
  • Identify opportunities for introducing new packaging solutions aligned with market demand and sustainability initiatives.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with production, procurement, quality, logistics, and finance teams to ensure seamless customer support.
  • Support new product launches and customer qualification processes.
  • Participate in strategic planning and sales meetings to align commercial activities with business goals.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Engineering, Packaging Technology, Food Technology, or a related discipline.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of B2B sales experience, with at least 2 years in a sales management or supervisory role.
  • Experience in food and beverage packaging is highly preferred.
  • Candidates from related industries such as flexible packaging, rigid packaging, paper packaging, labels, corrugated packaging, plastics, cartons, cans, bottles, closures, or industrial packaging will also be considered.
  • Proven experience managing key accounts and delivering consistent revenue growth.
  • Experience selling to food manufacturers, beverage companies, FMCG organizations, or packaging distributors is an advantage.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong understanding of packaging materials, manufacturing processes, and food-grade packaging requirements.
  • Knowledge of the food and beverage manufacturing industry and its procurement processes.
  • Strong consultative selling, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to analyze sales data, market trends, and customer requirements to develop commercial strategies.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-driven with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced commercial environment.
