Job Description

About The Role

As a Sales Executive , you will help drive PayMongo's revenue and profit growth through a combination of winning new merchant clients and growing an assigned portfolio of existing merchants .

You will own both sides of the commercial relationship: prospecting and closing new business while building deeper relationships with existing merchant partners to increase their value through product adoption, upselling, and cross-selling. You will manage your pipeline and accounts with a clear focus on profitable growth, merchant success, and long-term relationships.

This role is suited to a commercially driven, customer-focused professional who enjoys both new business development and account growth. You should be comfortable managing multiple merchant relationships, developing tailored solutions, working toward clear revenue targets, and balancing prospecting with the ongoing needs of an existing portfolio.

What You Will Do Win New Merchant Business

You will actively build PayMongo's merchant base by identifying, engaging, and converting prospective businesses into new PayMongo customers.

You Will:

  • Research the market to identify net-new merchant opportunities worth pursuing.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and market developments that can inform your prospecting strategy.
  • Prospect and engage potential merchant clients through research, referrals, and other commercial channels.
  • Understand each prospect's business, needs, and pain points before developing your commercial approach.
  • Create tailored pitches, presentations, and proposals that demonstrate how PayMongo can address the merchant's needs.
  • Own the new-logo sales cycle from initial engagement through commercial close.
  • Coordinate the onboarding handover so newly won merchants can transition smoothly into an active relationship with PayMongo.

Grow and Expand Existing Merchant Accounts

Your responsibility does not end when a merchant signs with PayMongo. You will also own an assigned merchant portfolio and identify opportunities to deepen each relationship and grow its commercial value.

You Will:

  • Serve as the primary commercial point of contact for assigned merchant partners.
  • Build strong relationships and develop a clear understanding of each merchant's business, objectives, and challenges.
  • Conduct regular check-ins and business reviews to assess account health and satisfaction.
  • Develop strategic account plans for key merchants, with clear growth objectives, actions, and timelines.
  • Identify opportunities to increase product adoption through upselling and cross-selling .
  • Work with merchants on plans that support their long-term success with PayMongo.
  • Gather merchant feedback and market insights that can help improve PayMongo's products, services, and commercial approach.

Own Your Pipeline and Revenue Performance

You will manage both new and existing business against clear commercial targets, maintaining the pipeline discipline needed to create predictable growth.

You Will:

  • Work toward assigned targets across new-logo acquisition and existing-account growth .
  • Build and maintain a healthy sales pipeline with clear visibility into opportunities and next steps.
  • Track pipeline progress and performance against commercial targets.
  • Identify opportunities to accelerate sales cycles and remove blockers to closing.
  • Continuously identify additional revenue opportunities within existing accounts.
  • Maintain accurate and current opportunity and account information in the CRM.
  • Translate broader Commercial priorities into actionable account and pipeline plans.

Deliver a Strong Merchant Experience

You will build relationships that position PayMongo as a responsive, reliable, and valuable long-term partner to its merchants.

You Will:

  • Maintain regular communication with merchant partners and prospective clients.
  • Understand merchant concerns and respond to inquiries in a timely and thoughtful way.
  • Coordinate internally to help resolve merchant issues and maintain a seamless customer experience.
  • Manage relationships with senior merchant stakeholders where required.
  • Use merchant feedback to strengthen account plans and identify opportunities for further growth.
  • Balance commercial objectives with the long-term success and retention of your merchant portfolio.

Tools You Will Work With

You will use a combination of CRM, productivity, communication, and reporting tools to manage prospecting, merchant relationships, pipeline activity, and commercial performance.

These May Include:

  • HubSpot – to manage prospects, merchant accounts, opportunities, pipeline activity, and sales progress.
  • Excel – to support account planning, tracking, analysis, and commercial reporting.
  • Google Slides or PowerPoint – to develop tailored merchant presentations and sales pitches.
  • Google Workspace – to create proposals, account plans, and other commercial documentation.
  • Slack – to collaborate with internal teams and coordinate merchant requirements or issues.
  • Internal dashboards – to monitor account, pipeline, and commercial performance.

You do not need to have worked with every specific platform, but you should be comfortable using CRM, spreadsheet, presentation, and collaboration tools to manage a disciplined sales pipeline and merchant portfolio.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for a commercially driven sales and account growth professional who combines strong client-facing skills with the discipline needed to prospect for new business and grow existing merchant relationships.

You Should Bring:

  • At least 2 years of client-facing experience , whether in sales, account management, customer success, support, or another relevant client-facing capacity.
  • Good understanding of payments, fintech, or a similarly complex domain .
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to engage and manage senior stakeholders on the merchant side.
  • The ability to understand a merchant's needs and translate them into relevant commercial pitches and proposals.
  • The ability to build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships.
  • Strong sales and pipeline discipline, with the ability to manage opportunities from prospecting through close.
  • The ability to identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities and develop plans to grow existing accounts.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, target-driven environment with multiple concurrent stakeholders.
  • Working proficiency with tools such as Excel, HubSpot, ClickUp, Slack, and similar commercial platforms for tracking, documentation, and pipeline management.

Nice to Have

Experience or knowledge in the following would be particularly helpful:

  • Exposure to strategic account planning and regular client business reviews.
  • Experience identifying and closing upsell or cross-sell opportunities.

You do not need to come from one specific sales background. What matters most is your ability to win new business, build trusted merchant relationships, grow accounts, and maintain the commercial discipline needed to consistently deliver against targets .

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means building profitable merchant relationships—bringing new businesses to PayMongo while increasing the value and longevity of the merchants already within your portfolio.

You Will Be Successful When You:

  • Win new merchant accounts and contribute to PayMongo's new-logo growth.
  • Grow Gross Profit and Total Payment Volume (TPV) across new and managed accounts.
  • Maintain a healthy proportion of assigned merchants that are active and transacting.
  • Generate incremental revenue by expanding merchants into additional PayMongo products and services.
  • Build strong relationships that support merchant retention and satisfaction .
  • Maintain sufficient pipeline coverage to create visibility and predictability against your targets.
  • Keep your pipeline and CRM data accurate and current.
  • Balance new-logo prospecting with thoughtful account management so that both sides of your portfolio contribute to sustainable growth.

Team & Reporting

You will report to the Sales Manager and work within the Commercial team's Sales function . This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports .

You will work closely with the Sales Manager, Commercial team, Senior Management, and Product , particularly when merchant feedback or business-development insights can inform PayMongo's products and commercial strategy.

Externally, your primary relationships will be with merchant partners and prospective clients , and you will own these relationships across both new-business acquisition and ongoing account growth.
