Job Description
Reporting Line & Team Structure
- Reports to: Department Head
- Team size: 7-8 headcount
Key Responsibilities
- Drive sales and revenue growth for phacoemulsification and vitrectomy surgical equipment (e.g., cataract and retinal surgery systems) across assigned territories
- Build and manage relationships with key stakeholders including cataract surgeons, vitreoretinal specialists, ophthalmologists, OR nurses, biomedical engineers, hospital procurement teams, and distributor partners within eye centers, hospitals, and specialty clinics
- Deliver product demonstrations and hands-on clinical application support, including assisting surgeons and OR teams during procedures to ensure optimal use of phaco and vitrectomy systems
- Lead equipment installations and onboarding, ensuring seamless integration into operating rooms and alignment with clinical workflows
- Support product evaluations, tenders, and trials, working closely with surgeons and decision-makers to showcase clinical value and support post-installation training for medical and technical staff
- Identify new business opportunities, expand existing accounts, and promote portfolio adoption
- Collaborate cross-functionally with service engineers, logistics, marketing, and application specialists to ensure timely delivery, technical reliability, and strong customer experience
- Provide actionable market intelligence, including competitor activities, pricing trends, and pipeline updates, while capturing surgeon feedback to support strategic planning
The Successful Applicant
A successful Sales & Application Specialist - Ophthalmology should have:
- A degree in Biomedical Engineering, Life Sciences, Optometry, Nursing, or a related medical/clinical field
- Proven experience in medical equipment / device sales, clinical applications, or OR support; background in ophthalmology is a strong advantage
- Ability to build trusted relationships with cataract surgeons, vitreoretinal specialists, ophthalmologists, OR nurses, biomedical engineers, and hospital procurement teams
- Excellent communication, presentation, and training skills, with the ability to effectively engage surgeons and clinical staff in both operating room and classroom settings
- Hands-on, problem-solving mindset to provide on-site technical and clinical support, including troubleshooting during procedures and post-installation
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to identify opportunities, manage accounts, and support tenders or capital equipment sales cycles
- Willingness and flexibility to travel frequently to support cases, installations, and customer engagements; candidate should ideally be based in VisMin
