Sales and Use Tax Analyst

Job Summary

The Sales and Use Tax Analyst is responsible for end-to-end compliance of U.S. and Canadian Sales and Use Tax filings. This role works closely with the U.S. tax team to ensure timely, accurate tax reporting while supporting audits, reconciliations, and continuous process improvements.


Key Responsibilities

Sales & Use Tax Compliance

  • Prepare and file Sales and Use Tax returns for multiple U.S. and Canadian jurisdictions

  • Ensure timely and accurate submissions in line with internal controls and KPIs

Accounting & Reconciliation

  • Prepare and post journal entries related to tax filings and payments

  • Reconcile tax accounts and monitor open or reconciling items

Tax Payments & Documentation

  • Generate and process tax payments on time

  • Maintain proper documentation in compliance with retention policies

Audit & Stakeholder Support

  • Assist in resolving tax notices from U.S. taxing authorities

  • Review and validate vendor exemption certificates

  • Provide audit support by preparing working papers and explaining tax processes

Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to streamline tax processes

  • Support automation and efficiency initiatives in collaboration with the U.S. tax team


Qualifications & Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in Sales and Use Tax and/or Motor Fuel Tax

  • Experience in Shared Services or a global environment is a plus

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting CPA is an advantage

  • Hands-on experience with SAP and strong MS Excel skills

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills

  • Detail-oriented, results-driven, and able to work independently
