The Safety Officer is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and enforcing health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies at the construction site to ensure compliance with DOLE Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Standards and to prevent accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with DOLE OSH Standards, project safety plans, and company safety policies
- Conduct daily site safety inspections and identify hazards, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions
- Implement and monitor the Construction Safety and Health Program (CSHP)
- Conduct toolbox meetings, safety orientations, and safety trainings for workers and subcontractors
- Enforce proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses and prepare incident and accident reports
- Recommend corrective and preventive actions to site management
- Coordinate with site engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors on safety matters
- Maintain and update safety records, permits, and reports (e.g., daily safety reports, inspection checklists)
- Assist during DOLE inspections and audits
- Stop work activities that pose imminent danger to workers
- Ensure proper signage, barricades, and safety warnings are installed and maintained
- Monitor housekeeping and environmental safety (waste disposal, dust control, noise, etc.)
Qualifications
- DOLE-accredited Safety Officer (SO1 / SO2 / SO3, depending on project requirements)
- With at least 13 years of experience in construction site safety (depending on level)
- Knowledgeable in construction safety practices, risk assessment, and hazard control
- Strong communication and coordination skills
- Ability to prepare reports and conduct safety trainings
Reporting Line
- Reports directly to the Project Manager / Site Manager and coordinates with the Safety and Health Committee.
Work Location
- Assigned to construction project sites as required.
