Job Summary:
The Safety Officer ensures a safe and healthy work environment within the BPO facility by implementing and monitoring occupational health and safety (OHS) standards. This role focuses on workplace ergonomics, emergency preparedness, and compliance with local regulations to protect employees in a high-volume office setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and enforce health and safety policies specific to office and BPO operations
- Conduct regular inspections of workstations, common areas, and equipment to ensure compliance with ergonomic and safety standards
- Monitor adherence to fire safety, emergency evacuation plans, and building security protocols
- Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses; prepare reports and recommend preventive measures
- Coordinate safety drills (fire, earthquake, emergency evacuation) and ensure readiness of emergency response teams
- Provide training and awareness sessions on workplace safety, ergonomics, and health guidelines
- Maintain accurate records of safety audits, incident reports, and compliance certifications
- Liaise with building management and regulatory agencies for compliance and inspections
- Promote a culture of health and safety among employees, including mental wellness initiatives
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field
- Certification in safety management (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA) preferred
- Minimum 23 years of experience in a safety role, preferably in an office or BPO environment
- Knowledge of local health and safety regulations and emergency preparedness standards
- Strong communication and organizational skills
Skills & Competencies:
- Attention to detail and ability to identify potential hazards in office settings
- Ability to conduct ergonomic assessments and recommend improvements
- Proficiency in MS Office and safety compliance tools
- Strong interpersonal skills for training and influencing employees
Working Conditions:
- Office-based role with regular inspections of workstations and common areas
- May require occasional night shifts to cover 24/7 operations
