Rigging Foreman

Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the rigging crew, ensuring the effective utilization of personnel, equipment, and resources to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
• Supervise all rigging and lifting activities, ensuring compliance with company procedures, HSE requirements, and industry best practices.
• Promote a strong safety culture by leading by example and ensuring all work is carried out safely and in accordance with approved procedures.
• Maintain awareness of and enforce compliance with applicable safety regulations, industry codes, standards, and statutory requirements.
• Ensure all rigging and lifting gear, vessel lifting equipment, and associated accessories are certified, inspected, properly maintained, and fit for purpose.
• Verify that all lifting equipment is correctly stored, identified, and color-coded in accordance with company procedures.
• Coordinate and supervise mooring operations involving cargo barges, pipe carriers, and other marine vessels as required.
• Supervise deck crane operations and routine lifting activities, ensuring adherence to approved lifting plans and procedures.
• Plan and oversee heavy lifting activities, ensuring the correct selection and application of lifting methods and equipment.
• Direct and coordinate the activities of deck crews and riggers, assigning tasks and monitoring performance to achieve project objectives.
• Ensure the optimal utilization of manpower and equipment to support the timely and efficient completion of projects.
• Assist in determining appropriate lifting methods, rigging arrangements, and equipment requirements for assigned operations.
• Ensure crews are adequately supplied with tools, equipment, and materials while preventing misuse or damage.
• Supervise and guide personnel engaged in the splicing of ropes, wire ropes, and lifting slings.
• Monitor the performance of rigging personnel and provide feedback and reports to the Site Superintendent.
• Support operational requirements by undertaking additional duties within competence when required.
• Identify workplace hazards and implement appropriate control measures.
• Coordinate with the HSE Department on safety-related matters and promote compliance with HSE standards.
• Participate in incident investigations and contribute to the implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
• Recommend improvements to enhance safety, efficiency, and operational performance.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Secondary School Certificate with a discipline-specific technical qualification or equivalent.
• Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in rigging, lifting, and heavy equipment operations within the marine, dredging, construction, offshore, or similar industries.
• Strong knowledge of rigging equipment, lifting techniques, lifting plans, and safe lifting practices.
• Familiarity with relevant lifting regulations, industry standards, and HSE requirements.
• Experience in supervising rigging crews and coordinating complex lifting operations.
• Good leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in marine and dredging operations is highly preferred.
