Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Revenue Manager to oversee revenue governance, financial performance, billing operations, and revenue optimization across the organization. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate revenue recognition, safeguarding profitability, improving billing efficiency, and supporting cash flow performance.
The successful candidate will serve as a key partner to operational, commercial, finance, and treasury stakeholders, ensuring strong oversight of the complete revenue lifecycle—from contract review and revenue recognition through billing and cash collection.
Key Responsibilities
Revenue Recognition & Financial Compliance
- Manage revenue recognition activities in accordance with applicable accounting standards and revenue recognition principles.
- Review and validate revenue calculations across various commercial arrangements, including milestone-based, percentage-of-completion, and time-and-materials engagements.
- Ensure revenue is recorded accurately, completely, and within the appropriate accounting periods.
- Collaborate with finance and controllership teams to support revenue approval processes and financial close activities.
- Maintain audit readiness by ensuring supporting documentation and controls are properly maintained.
Project Financial Management & Margin Analysis
- Oversee project-level financial performance, including profitability tracking and forecasting activities.
- Monitor project margins, billability, utilization trends, and cost performance.
- Identify risks related to margin erosion, cost overruns, and underperforming engagements.
- Partner with operational and business leaders to implement corrective actions and improve financial outcomes.
- Support forecasting activities, including Estimate-at-Completion (EAC) reviews and financial performance assessments.
Billing Operations & Revenue Administration
- Lead billing governance and ensure adherence to established billing processes.
- Oversee timely and accurate invoice generation in accordance with contractual agreements.
- Review and approve invoices prior to release to customers.
- Minimize billing delays, invoice disputes, rejected invoices, and unbilled revenue.
- Drive process improvements to enhance billing efficiency and accuracy.
Revenue Risk & Leakage Management
- Monitor unbilled work, work-at-risk activities, and potential revenue leakage.
- Establish controls to ensure completed work is appropriately captured and billed.
- Identify contractual or operational issues that may impact revenue realization.
- Escalate risks proactively and work with stakeholders to implement mitigation plans.
Contract & Commercial Finance Support
- Review customer contracts to assess pricing structures, billing requirements, and revenue implications.
- Ensure commercial agreements support accurate revenue recognition and operational execution.
- Partner with business and legal stakeholders to evaluate contract terms and financial viability.
- Provide guidance on contract structures that optimize revenue realization and profitability.
Revenue-to-Cash Optimization
- Collaborate with treasury and collections teams to improve billing-to-cash conversion.
- Support resolution of billing disputes and customer escalations impacting collections.
- Monitor revenue realization metrics and identify opportunities to improve cash flow performance.
- Contribute to initiatives aimed at reducing outstanding receivables and improving collection cycles.
Stakeholder Management & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with operational, commercial, finance, and treasury teams to ensure alignment on revenue objectives.
- Support business leaders with financial insights related to project performance, profitability, and revenue realization.
- Facilitate regular reviews of revenue performance, billing effectiveness, and margin trends.
- Serve as a trusted advisor on revenue-related risks, opportunities, and compliance requirements.
Reporting & Business Insights
- Prepare and present revenue performance reports, profitability analysis, billing metrics, and cash conversion insights.
- Deliver actionable recommendations to leadership based on financial and operational trends.
- Support management reviews through regular reporting and performance discussions.
- Develop meaningful KPIs and dashboards to improve visibility into revenue operations.
Process Improvement & Systems Optimization
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across revenue management, billing, and financial processes.
- Identify opportunities for automation, standardization, and enhanced financial controls.
- Collaborate with technology and business teams to improve data accuracy and operational efficiency.
- Support system enhancements related to revenue, billing, project accounting, and financial reporting.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional accounting certifications such as CPA, CMA, or equivalent are preferred.
Experience
- 8–12 years of progressive experience in revenue accounting, project accounting, financial operations, or finance business partnering.
- Demonstrated experience managing revenue recognition, billing operations, profitability analysis, and financial governance.
- Experience leading or mentoring finance professionals is highly desirable.
- Proven track record of supporting cross-functional business stakeholders and driving financial performance improvements.
Technical Knowledge
- Strong understanding of revenue recognition standards and accounting principles.
- Solid commercial and financial acumen, including pricing models, contract management, and margin analysis.
- Experience working with ERP systems, CRM platforms, project accounting tools, and financial reporting systems.
- Knowledge of financial controls, forecasting methodologies, and operational finance processes.
