Job description:
The Revenue Manager is responsible for improving revenue performance across organization's passenger transport network, products and sales channels.
Working closely with Sales, Marketing, Digital, Operations and Finance, the role uses company data and market insight to shape pricing, forecasting and channel strategies that maximise sustainable revenue growth. The role requires weighing the demand, capacity, customer behaviour, timing and product positioning, not just price in isolation.
The role balances day-to-day trading opportunities with longer-term network growth, ensuring revenue decisions support customer value, operational performance and organization's broader commercial strategy.
Key Accountabilities:
Revenue Strategy and Performance
- Develop and manage revenue strategies across organization's products, routes and sales channels.
- Balance short-term trading opportunities against longer-term network growth, escalating significant trade-offs to senior leadership.
Pricing and Yield Management
- Monitor demand, competitor pricing and promotional activity, recommending pricing, yield and inventory actions within approved delegations.
- Develop dynamic pricing model that reflects current competitive market tension and sets organization up for success.
- Improve budget modelling to incorporate a more dynamic pricing structure.
Channel and Distribution Management
- Optimise performance and commercial return across direct, agent, wholesale and digital distribution channels.
- Recommend improvements to channel mix and pricing, partnering with internal and external teams to improve distribution effectiveness.
Forecasting, Reporting and Commercial Insight
- Develop revenue forecasts and track performance against budget, forecast and prior year across routes, products and channels.
- Analyse demand, capacity and market conditions, translating data into clear, actionable recommendations for decision-makers.
- Improve revenue-management systems, tools, budget reporting and performance benchmarks.
Stakeholder Partnership
- Build effective relationships with operations, customer service and sales team and influence internal business decisions. Provide clear, evidence-based advice to the sales team.
Safety, Compliance and Risk
- Comply with applicable legislation, policies, procedures, delegations and lawful directions.
- Identify and report financial, operational, customer, data and commercial risks relevant to the role.
- Maintain the confidentiality, accuracy and security of commercial, customer and business information.
- Contribute to a safe, inclusive and respectful workplace
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
- Improved revenue, yield, load factors and profitability across agreed routes, products and channels.
- Accurate, timely and commercially useful forecasting and reporting.
- Revenue opportunities and risks are identified early and supported by practical recommendations.
- A reliable pricing model is developed that can inform pricing and channel decisions.
- Internal stakeholders understand and use revenue-management insights in their decision-making
Non-negotiable skills and requirements:
Experience
- Demonstrated experience in revenue management, pricing, commercial analysis, demand planning or a comparable analytical commercial role.
Technical Skills
- Advanced Excel, including pivot tables, modelling and scenario analysis.
- Sound understanding of dynamic pricing, yield optimisation, market segmentation and distribution-channel management.
Capabilities
- Strong analytical and forecasting capability — interpreting data, tracking performance against budget and prior year, and translating findings into practical recommendations.
- Clear communication and stakeholder-management skills, with sound problem-solving and decision-making in a changing trading environment.
- Collaborative, continuous-improvement mindset, working effectively across commercial, operational and customer-facing teams to refine systems, reporting and processes.
Qualifications and Licenses
- Relevant tertiary qualification in commerce, economics, finance, analytics, mathematics, business or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience in hospitality, tourism or transport sector.
Desirable
- Experience in passenger transport, aviation, tourism, hotel reservations, travel, hospitality or another capacity-constrained industry.
- Experience managing revenue across multiple products and distribution channels.
- Experience with dynamic-pricing, revenue-management or business intelligence systems.
- Experience working with travel agents, wholesalers or third-party distribution partners
