The Retail Category Manager is responsible for managing assigned product categories—from sourcing and purchasing to assortment planning, pricing, inventory, promotions, and vendor management—to maximize sales, profitability, and overall category productivity.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop category and assortment strategies aligned with sales, profitability, and inventory targets.
- Analyze sales, inventory, sell-through, aging, and market trends to identify opportunities and improve category performance.
- Lead product sourcing, pricing, promotions, product launches, and assortment development.
- Negotiate with suppliers on pricing, quality, delivery, payment terms, and trade support, while maintaining strong vendor relationships.
- Collaborate with Operations, Marketing, Supply Chain, Accounting, and other teams to execute merchandising strategies and manage the merchandising support team.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Retail Management, or a related field.
- 3–6 years of relevant experience in Category Management, Merchandising, Buying, Purchasing, or Retail.
- Strong skills in retail analysis, forecasting, inventory management, and vendor negotiation.
- Excellent communication, strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and merchandising/business systems.
