Job Description

Job Summary

The Resident Engineer Onsite is responsible for overseeing day-to-day engineering and construction activities at the project site to ensure works are executed in accordance with approved plans, specifications, safety standards, and project timelines. This role acts as the primary technical representative on site, coordinating closely with contractors, consultants, and stakeholders to ensure quality, compliance, and timely delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Site & Technical Supervision

  • Provide full-time on-site supervision of construction activities.
  • Ensure works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, technical specifications, and contract requirements.
  • Monitor construction progress and report any delays, risks, or deviations.

Quality Control & Compliance

  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure workmanship quality and compliance with engineering standards.
  • Review shop drawings, method statements, and material submittals.
  • Identify defects and ensure timely rectification by contractors.

Coordination & Stakeholder Management

  • Coordinate daily activities with contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Liaise with design consultants and project management teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Attend site meetings and prepare progress updates and technical reports.

Safety & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with site safety rules, health standards, and environmental regulations.
  • Report safety incidents, non-conformances, and corrective actions.
  • Support implementation of safety plans and toolbox meetings.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate site records, inspection logs, and progress reports.
  • Verify quantities of work completed for certification and billing purposes.
  • Assist in handover documentation and project close-out activities.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • Licensed Engineer (PRC) is preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 35 years of experience in construction or site engineering roles.
  • Proven experience supervising on-site works for building or infrastructure projects.
  • Experience working with contractors and multidisciplinary teams.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and engineering standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Good problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and coordination abilities.
  • Proficient in MS Office; familiarity with site reporting tools is an advantage.

Working Conditions

  • Full-time on-site presence required.
  • May involve extended hours depending on project needs.
  • Exposure to active construction environments.
