Job Description: R&D Supervisor

Position Summary
As the R&D Supervisor for Scentral Laboratories Inc.the heart of product innovation for Suyen Corporation (Bench, Kashieca, Cotton On, etc.)you will lead a team of chemists and researchers in the creation and improvement of personal care, fragrance, and cosmetic products. You are the bridge between creative marketing concepts and technical laboratory execution, ensuring that every product meets the high standards of the Bench brand and its affiliates.
Key Responsibilities
1. Product Development & Formulation
- Oversee the end-to-end development of new formulations for fragrances, toiletries, and cosmetics.
- Guide the lab team in adjusting formulas to achieve desired aesthetics, stability, and cost-efficiency.
- Keep Suyen Corp at the forefront of trends by researching innovative ingredients and sustainable packaging solutions.
2. Team Leadership & Laboratory Management
- Supervise daily lab operations, ensuring all chemists and technicians adhere to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
- Mentor junior staff on formulation techniques and troubleshooting batch inconsistencies.
- Manage project timelines to ensure product launches hit the shelves according to the retail calendar.
3. Quality, Safety, and Compliance
- Ensure all products comply with FDA Philippines regulations and international standards (IFRA for fragrances).
- Review stability testing results and micro-challenge tests to guarantee product shelf-life and safety.
- Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to transition successful lab-scale formulas to full-scale manufacturing.
4. Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with the Marketing and Brand teams to translate trend briefs into tangible products.
- Liaise with raw material suppliers to source high-quality ingredients and negotiate technical specifications.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmacy, or a related science field. A Licensed Chemist or Pharmacist is highly preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in R&D within the FMCG, Cosmetics, or Personal Care industry, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or senior capacity.
- Technical Skills: * Deep understanding of surfactant chemistry, emulsions, and fragrance stability.
- Familiarity with FDA licensing and product registration processes in the Philippines.
- Soft Skills: Strong project management abilities, an eye for detail, and a passion for the lifestyle and fashion industry.
