Unlock your potential! At TOA Global, we have a deep commitment to empowering individuals to excel in their enterprises, careers, and communities. Our global footprint stretches across Australia, New Zealand, North America, Philippines, South Africa, and South America, supporting our global clients in the accounting industry.
Primary objectives:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Reporting and Analytics Team Lead within our Data and Analytics team. This role leads the enterprise-wide reporting and analytics delivery on Microsoft Fabric, owning the quality, consistency, and business impact of our Power BI reports, semantic models, and Fabric Data Apps. This is a hands-on leadership role: you will lead a small team of reporting developers and data analysts (this role has a couple of direct reports) while personally delivering high-visibility reporting solutions for leaders across the business.
This role is for someone who has a passion for data presentation and data storytelling, an exceptional eye for detail, and excellent stakeholder engagement skills. You are comfortable across the full reporting stack in Microsoft Fabric (semantic models, DAX, report design, and Fabric Data Apps) and you understand enough of the data layer (medallion architecture, lakehouses, and warehouses) to partner effectively with data engineers and shape the gold layer your team reports from.
We are over 4,500 staff globally and are growing extremely fast. The Reporting and Analytics Team Lead will work directly with internal teams and senior stakeholders to ensure the reporting needs that drive the business are successfully prioritised and implemented. We are action oriented, invest heavily in the Microsoft data platform, and reporting sits at the centre of how the business makes decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a small team of reporting developers and data analysts: setting direction, reviewing work, developing capability, and lifting the overall quality of reporting delivery.
- Own the reporting demand intake and prioritisation process, balancing business priorities and team capacity, and managing delivery through Azure DevOps sprints.
- Design, develop, and maintain enterprise Power BI solutions (reports, dashboards, shared semantic models, and dataflows) aligned with best practices in performance and governance.
- Set and enforce reporting standards: shared semantic models, reusable components, naming conventions, and certification of trusted datasets across the organisation.
- Build and publish Fabric Data Apps to deliver interactive data products directly into the hands of business users.
- Partner with data engineers on the medallion architecture: defining gold-layer requirements, understanding silver-layer structures, and ensuring the data layer serves reporting well.
- Review and quality-gate the team's output (data accuracy reconciliation, DAX and model review, and visual and user-experience polish) before release to stakeholders.
- Engage business stakeholders and executives to understand requirements, present insights, and turn analytical questions into effective data models and visual stories.
- Monitor and resolve production reporting issues, prioritising according to severity and business impact.
- Provide Power BI enablement and training to business users, fostering a culture of self-service analytics and data literacy.
- Continuously evaluate new Microsoft Fabric and Power BI capabilities (including Copilot and AI-powered reporting), recommending enhancements that improve scalability, adoption, and impact.
- Maintain technical documentation for the team's solutions, ensuring transparency and maintainability.
Qualifications / Skills:
- Bachelor's degree with strong statistical, technical or analytical component: for example, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, Finance or Statistics.
- 5+ years of experience in business intelligence / reporting, with demonstrated experience leading or mentoring other developers or analysts.
- Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Fundamentals, or similar certifications (Desirable but not essential).
- Experience leading or mentoring a reporting team, with strong demand planning and prioritisation skills to balance strategic initiatives against ad-hoc business requests.
- Excellent data presentation and data storytelling, translating complex datasets into clear, actionable insights tailored for leadership audiences.
- Exceptional eye for detail: validating data accuracy through reconciliation and testing, and holding a high bar for visual polish and user experience before anything is released.
- Advanced Power BI expertise, including semantic model design, DAX, Power Query (M), visualisation best practices, and report performance tuning.
- Experience working with Microsoft Fabric as the reporting platform: OneLake, Lakehouse and Warehouse sources, Direct Lake connectivity, and deployment pipelines.
- Experience building or strong interest in Fabric Data Apps as interactive data products that go beyond traditional dashboards.
- Working knowledge of medallion architecture (Bronze / Silver / Gold), with the ability to read the data layer, shape gold-layer requirements with data engineers, and know where reporting should and should not plug in.
- Proficiency in SQL for data analysis, validation, and profiling across lakehouse and warehouse sources.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement: confident engaging executives and senior leaders, translating business requirements into KPIs, semantic models, and visual insights.
- Strong understanding of reporting governance: workspace security, row-level security, endorsed/certified semantic models, and promoting shared datasets over duplication.
- Strategic approach to insight delivery: promoting Power BI and self-service analytics over Excel and standalone analysis tools, and driving a data-driven culture.
- Agile and iterative delivery mindset, managing team delivery through Azure DevOps.
- Proactive learner with enthusiasm for emerging Microsoft capabilities (e.g. Fabric Copilot, AI-powered reporting, Real-Time Intelligence).
