Job Description:
1. Maintenance Planning & Strategy
- Develop, implement, and execute a comprehensive preventive maintenance program to maximize fleet lifespan and minimize unscheduled downtime.
- Strategically plan and schedule routine maintenance tasks to ensure minimal disruption to daily delivery schedules and logistics operations.
2. Truck Fleet Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Coordinate and perform routine inspections, servicing, and repairs across the entire truck fleet.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues.
- Oversee the tracking and documentation of vehicle performance trends to preemptively address recurring mechanical issues.
3. Financial & Budget Management
- Manage the truck maintenance budget, including accurate cost estimation, expense tracking, and financial forecasting.
- Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives to optimize expenditures without compromising fleet safety or quality.
- Identify, track, and process reimbursable maintenance expenses.
4. Inventory & Vendor Management
- Maintain a real-time, comprehensive inventory of all trucks, clearly tracking units that are actively running versus those down for breakdown repairs.
- Manage an organized stock of essential spare parts and shop supplies to minimize repair delays.
- Collaborate with external vendors and suppliers for specialized services and parts procurement evaluate vendor performance and negotiate service contracts.
- 5. Safety, Compliance & Documentation
Ensure all maintenance shop activities adhere strictly to local safety regulations, environmental laws, and industry standards. - Implement safety training programs and enforce workshop best practices for the maintenance team.
- Promptly investigate, document, and report any safety incidents or compliance violations.
- Maintain meticulous records of all vehicle histories, maintenance activities, and critical regulatory documents (including OR/CRs, permits, and registration renewals).
- Generate regular reports on maintenance performance metrics and overall equipment reliability for upper management.
6. Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and supervise a dedicated team of truck maintenance technicians.
- Provide ongoing technical guidance, training, and professional support to team members.
- Establish clear performance goals, monitor daily progress, and conduct regular performance evaluations.
Requirements:
- A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Automotive Technology is an advantage.
- At least 2â€3 years of experience in team management that is responsible for truck or heavy vehicle repairs, preferably in a logistics or transport operations setting.
- Strong understanding of truck systems and repair diagnostics.
- Good communication and coordination skills, especially in working with third-party vendors.
