About the role

We are looking for an experienced Payroll Officer to join our Finance team.

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you'll be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll across Australia and New Zealand, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, awards, enterprise agreements and company policies. You'll also act as a key point of contact for payroll matters across the business, providing advice and guidance to employees and managers.

Day to day you will:

  • Manage weekly and fortnightly payrolls across Australia and New Zealand with a focus on accuracy, compliance and timeliness.
  • Maintain high-quality employee data, ensuring integrity across all payroll inputs.
  • Respond to payroll queries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Interpret and apply enterprise agreements, awards and relevant payroll conditions.
  • Ensure compliance with Fair Work legislation, ATO and NES requirements, and New Zealand payroll legislation including PAYE and KiwiSaver.
  • Process termination payments, back pays, deductions, income protection payments and other payroll transactions.
  • Prepare payroll reports, reconciliations and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Support payroll tax, superannuation, PAYG, long service leave and year-end reconciliations.
  • Manage long service leave administration, including registrations, payments and reporting (AU applicable).
  • Support audit requirements and continuous improvement of payroll processes.

What you'll bring to the team

You're someone who takes pride in delivering accurate payroll outcomes and enjoys working in a role where detail, deadlines and consistency matters. You will bring a practical and collaborative approach to your work as well as:

  • Demonstrated experience processing end-to-end payroll in a complex organization, ideally across Australia and New Zealand.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, awards, enterprise agreements and compliance requirements, including exposure to NZ payroll obligations (PAYE, KiwiSaver).
  • Experience with ADP and IFS (desirable).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build credibility with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet payroll deadlines.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Experience within the construction industry is desirable, but not essential.
