The Remedial Specialist is responsible for managing delinquent, restructured, and high-risk accounts to minimize losses and support recovery efforts. The role focuses on borrower engagement, account resolution strategies, and coordination with internal teams and external partners to ensure effective remediation of problem accounts.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage assigned portfolio of delinquent and high-risk accounts
- Contact borrowers to negotiate payment arrangements, restructuring, or settlement options
- Assess account status and recommend appropriate remedial actions
- Coordinate with collections, legal, and agency partners for recovery efforts
- Monitor payment commitments and ensure compliance with agreed terms
- Update and maintain accurate account records and activity logs
- Prepare regular reports on portfolio performance and recovery status
- Escalate accounts requiring legal action or higher-level intervention
- Ensure compliance with company policies, credit guidelines, and regulations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or related field
- 2–3 years experience in collections, credit, or remedial handling
- Experience in delinquent or restructured accounts is an advantage
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Good analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Proficient in MS Office and reporting tools
- Detail-oriented and able to handle sensitive accounts professionally
