Reinsurance Accounting Associate

The role is primarily responsible for preparing accurate work using established procedures, templates, and system reports, with review and approval by the U.S. team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare manual journal entries for treaty premiums, commissions, losses, recoverables, payables, and related balances.
• Book recurring treaty activity for quota share, excess-of-loss, and other treaty arrangements using approved calculations and templates.
• Perform monthly reconciliations between reinsurance systems, supporting reports, and the general ledger; research and clearly explain differences.
• Prepare premium, commission, paid loss, outstanding loss, and settlement bordereaux and reconcile them to accounting records.
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities and meet established deadlines.
• Maintain organized supporting documentation for journal entries, reconciliations, bordereaux, and audit requests.
• Update process instructions, trackers, and checklists and identify practical opportunities to improve recurring work.
• Communicate progress, questions, and unusual items promptly to the U.S. Reinsurance Accounting team.

Qualifications:

• Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, SUMIFS, filters, and working with large data sets.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, documentation, and ability to meet recurring deadlines.
• Accounting experience involving journal entries, reconciliations, month-end close, or financial reporting.
• Preferred familiarity with Reinsurance; quota share, excess-of-loss, bordereaux, statements of account, or reinsurance settlements.
