Develops, implements, and evaluates an annual school counseling and guidance plan in accordance with standards set forth by the university and accreditation agencies.
Directs the Guidance Counselors in the orientation for new students, parents/guardians, and faculty.
Directs the guidance counselor in giving individual and group counseling to students.
Oversees the Guidance Counselors assistance to the students in building self-esteem and developing skills in decision-making, problem-solving, and a positive human relation attitude.
Manages the consultation and collaboration with parents/guardians, teachers, staff and the Office for Student Services about any special needs of students, and makes appropriate referrals.
Directs the Guidance Counselors assessments, referrals, and counseling sessions with students and families.
Coordinates and collaborates with grievance and disciplinary committees when counseling services are needed by students/staff.
Prepares and manages annual budget pertinent to the counseling and guidance program.
Controls the maintenance of comprehensive guidance records and reports.
Completes written reports as needed or as requested by Dean.
Plans professional development activities, supervises and evaluates the work of the guidance counselor and facilitator.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Vice President for Academic Affairs from time to time.
Job Qualifications:
College graduate of BS Psychology program, MS/MA in Guidance and Counseling
Must be a Registered Guidance Counselor
At least with 1-3 years of experience in Career and Placement Counseling
Knowledge of placement testing and career, personal and educational assessment
