Specialty Chemicals | Remote, Asia Pacific | Regional travel required
Our client, a global specialty chemicals manufacturer, is hiring a Sales Manager to lead its business across Southeast Asia, Japan, Taiwan, and Australia/New Zealand. This is a role for someone who has sold into chemicals, coatings, inks, plastics, specialty additives, or allied industrial markets deep industry fluency is what will set the successful candidate apart.
You'll own the region's revenue directly. You'll carry key accounts yourself while guiding regional sales staff, shaping pricing and market-expansion strategy, and reporting to the VP of Sales.
What you'll do
- Own regional revenue, profitability, and market-expansion targets across the APAC territory (excluding China).
- Lead, mentor, and grow a small regional sales team, and design the coverage and territory structure to hit growth goals.
- Personally manage and strengthen key accounts - retention, pricing, and service.
- Build and execute the regional sales plan; forecast, analyze, and identify new markets and customer needs.
- Lead price negotiations and manage profitability to financial targets.
- Partner with technical marketing, product marketing, customer service, and regulatory (MSDS, REACH, labeling) to keep accounts and products moving.
- Represent the company at trade and industry events.
What we're looking for
- 8+ years in B2B sales / sales management, with a track record selling into chemicals or an allied industrial sector (coatings, inks, plastics, additives, specialty materials, or similar).
- Demonstrated sales management experience - you've owned a number and led people to one.
- Technical or science degree (chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or related) preferred; a business degree is fine when paired with strong industry sales experience. Master's/MBA a plus.
- Strong commercial instincts: pricing, profitability, forecasting, and key-account strategy.
- Comfortable with CRM and data-analysis tools; ERP familiarity a plus.
- Excellent written and spoken English; additional regional languages (Japanese, Mandarin, Thai, Bahasa) are an advantage given the territory.
Location & travel
Remote, based anywhere in Southeast Asia. Strong preference for candidates near a major international airport. Expect frequent regional travel across SEA, Japan, Taiwan, and ANZ.
