Position Summary
The Driver Recruiter is responsible for sourcing, screening, and hiring qualified CDL drivers to support company growth and operational capacity. This role plays a critical part in maintaining a strong driver workforce by developing recruiting strategies, managing the hiring pipeline, and ensuring compliance with DOT and company standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute driver recruitment strategies to attract qualified CDL drivers
- Source candidates through job boards, social media, referrals, industry networks, and recruiting platforms
- Conduct phone screenings and interviews to evaluate qualifications, experience, and cultural fit
- Review applications to ensure compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations
- Coordinate background checks, MVR checks, drug testing, and onboarding documentation
- Maintain accurate records in the Applicant Tracking System (ATS)
- Communicate job offers, compensation details, and benefit information to candidates
- Track recruiting metrics such as cost-per-hire, time-to-fill, and retention rates
- Partner with safety and operations teams to ensure hiring standards are met
- Attend job fairs, driver events, and industry networking opportunities as needed
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree preferred
- 3 years of recruiting experience, preferably in transportation or logistics
- Knowledge of CDL classifications and DOT compliance requirements
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build rapport and maintain relationships with drivers
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume recruiting environment
Preferred Skills:
- Experience recruiting CDL Class A and B drivers
- Familiarity with FMCSA regulations
- Experience using ATS and CRM systems
- Understanding of driver pay structures (CPM, percentage, hourly)
- Sales or commission-based recruiting experience
