Job Summary
The Receiver is responsible for receiving, checking, and documenting all incoming merchandise and supplies delivered to the Spinneys store. The role ensures that deliveries are accurate, complete, properly handled, and compliant with Spinneys quality and food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and inspect incoming deliveries against purchase orders, delivery receipts, and invoices.
- Check the quantity, quality, freshness, packaging, and condition of products received.
- Verify that delivered items meet Spinneys standards and specifications.
- Record and report discrepancies, damages, shortages, or incorrect deliveries.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of chilled, frozen, fresh, and dry goods.
- Maintain accurate receiving records and documentation.
- Coordinate with suppliers, vendors, and relevant store departments regarding delivery concerns.
- Ensure the receiving area is clean, organized, and compliant with safety and hygiene standards.
- Follow proper FIFO/FEFO practices when applicable.
- Assist in inventory control and stock reconciliation when required.
- Follow company policies, food safety procedures, and workplace health and safety standards.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; college level is an advantage.
- At least 1 year of experience in receiving, warehouse, inventory, or retail operations, preferably in supermarkets, groceries, or food-related businesses.
- Knowledge of receiving procedures, inventory control, and basic documentation.
- Good attention to detail and accuracy.
- Physically fit and able to handle deliveries and stock movement.
- Willing to work on shifting schedules, weekends, and holidays.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Responsible, organized, and trustworthy.
