Job Description

Remote Quotations Specialist (Commercial Lighting)

Company: US-Based Construction Company - Commercial Lighting Distribution

Location: Remote (working 8am-5pm EST)

Compensation: $18,000-$35,000 USD per year, depending on experience

About Our Client

Our client supplies complete commercial lighting packages for US general contractors, developers, and building owners. We support projects from bid through approvals, value engineering, procurement, and phased deliveries. We are a small, fast team that treats lighting like a project, not just a product.

Role Summary

You will own the front-end quoting process for commercial lighting projects: reviewing bid packages, organizing fixture schedules, coordinating vendor pricing, and producing accurate, timely quotations that help our clients win jobs and protect our margins.

Outcomes (what success looks like)

In Your First 90 Days You Will

  • Process X-Y full bid packages per week with high accuracy (we'll define the exact number with you).
  • Turn around most quotation requests within 24-48 business hours, depending on scope.
  • Maintain quote accuracy so that pricing errors / missed items are near zero.
  • Free up the owner and estimating lead from at least 15-20 hours per week of quoting work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review lighting bid packages (drawings, specs, fixture schedules) and identify required materials.
  • Build organized bills of material (BOM) for each project.
  • Request, track, and organize vendor / rep pricing for fixtures and controls.
  • Compare specified products with value‑engineered alternatives when directed.
  • Prepare clear, professional quotations for general contractors and developers.
  • Coordinate with our estimating lead and project management team for handoff on awarded jobs.
  • Maintain internal records of quotes, revisions, and assumptions.

Requirements

  • 1-3+ years in construction estimating, quantity takeoff, electrical, or related technical role.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural / electrical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong Excel / Google Sheets skills and comfort working heavily with spreadsheets.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy; comfortable working with numbers all day.
  • Reliable written and spoken English; able to communicate clearly with a US-based team.
  • Stable internet and home office setup; willing to work US Eastern hours.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with lighting, electrical distribution, or controls.
  • Experience working with US general contractors or commercial projects.
  • Familiarity with tools like Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar.
