Job Description

Are you a QuickBooks expert looking to make a real-world impact Join a growing multi-branch non-profit as their Bookkeeper.

In this pivotal role, you'll partner with leadership to build robust financial systems and guide the expansion of a mission-driven organization across Texas and Nebraska.

Schedule

  • Monday - Friday, flexible during business hours Central Time Zone (CT) (40 work hours per week)

Responsibilities

  • Manage comprehensive bookkeeping for multiple branches, ensuring accuracy and compliance with non-profit accounting standards
  • Spearhead the preparation of formal financial statements, elevating the organization's financial reporting capabilities
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable, with a focus on efficiently processing donations and offerings
  • Conduct thorough bank reconciliations and execute month-end closing procedures
  • Collaborate on budgeting and financial planning for exciting expansion projects, including property acquisition
  • Analyze financial data and processes, providing strategic recommendations for improvement
  • Lead efforts to catch up on backlogged bookkeeping tasks, implementing efficient systems for future operations
  • Partner with the treasurer to interpret financial data, supporting informed decision-making across the organization
  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP and non-profit accounting principles in all financial activities

Requirements

  • Proven track record in bookkeeping or accounting, with a preference for experience in non-profit or religious organization settings
  • In-depth knowledge of US GAAP and non-profit accounting principles
  • Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks accounting software
  • Solid understanding of US taxation requirements specific to non-profit organizations
  • Exceptional attention to detail coupled with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks effectively
  • Strong analytical mindset with a talent for problem-solving and process improvement
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly in explaining complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Commitment to the organization's mission and values
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and growing responsibilities as the organization expands
