We are seeking a highly structured Civil Estimator / Civil Estimating Support Specialist or Quantity Surveyor to accelerate our expanding tender pipeline. This full-time remote role aligns with Australian Capital Territory (ACT) business hours and is critical to scaling our capacity to process high-value project bids across infrastructure, municipal civil programs, and large-scale developments.
This specialized position handles all pre-construction and tendering activities up to final pricing. You will be responsible for technical quantity take-offs, managing Request for Quote (RFQ) vendor packages, communicating directly with subcontractors/suppliers, and compiling final tender submission dossiers. The ideal candidate blends strong technical engineering knowledge with exceptional communication skills and rigorous attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Quantity Take-Offs & BOQ Verification: Perform accurate engineering calculations to construct comprehensive Bills of Quantities (BOQ) from digital plans. Audit existing client-provided bills against drawings to identify hidden variances.
- RFQ Package Management: Draft and distribute formal Request for Quote packages to specialized suppliers and sub-contractors.
- Sub-Contractor Engagement: Actively follow up with local ground-level sub-contractors via phone and email to gather quotes, manage delivery timelines, and resolve technical inquiries.
- Tender Submission Assembly: Systematically compile corporate tender dossiers, including updating staff CVs, formatting project profiles, and completing compliance forms for government portals.
- Administrative Asset Management: Collaborate with onshore project managers post-delivery to update project completion files, organize documentation, and log historic performance data.
Job RequirementsExperience & Technical Skills
- Professional Background: Minimum 3–5+ years of experience as a Civil Draftsperson, Estimator, or Quantity Surveyor.
- Plan Interpretation: Proven experience reading and interpreting complex civil infrastructure plans (earthworks, concrete structures, roads, and drainage systems).
- Procurement: Verifiable background managing outbound quote procurement streams with external vendors and trade partners.
- Software Proficiency:
- Advanced capability with PDF blueprint tooling, specifically Bluebeam Revu (essential).
- High-level proficiency across the Microsoft Office Suite, focusing on advanced Excel modeling.
- Familiarity with Zoom, Slack, and cloud storage systems (SharePoint/Google Drive).
Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or an equivalent technical field is highly desirable.
