Job Description

QC / TESTER

The Application Quality Control Specialist ensures that software applications meet functional, technical, and usability standards before release.

This role focuses on identifying defects, validating features, and ensuring a smooth user experience through manual and/or automated testing.

Key Responsibilities

Review business and technical requirements to create clear and comprehensive test cases.

Execute manual and/or automated testing for web, mobile, or desktop applications.

Perform functional, regression, integration, smoke, and user acceptance testing (UAT).

Log, track, and validate defects using issue-tracking tools (e.g., Jira, Bugzilla, Azure DevOps).

Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and product owners to clarify requirements and resolve issues.

Participate in sprint ceremonies (if Agile/Scrum) such as planning, reviews, and retrospectives.

Ensure test coverage aligns with acceptance criteria and quality standards.

Prepare test reports, QA metrics, and recommendations for process improvements.

Validate deployments in staging and production environments.

Contribute to creating and maintaining QA documentation, standards, and best practices.

Qualifications & Skills

Required:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Experience in software/application testing or quality control.

Knowledge of testing types (functional, UI/UX, integration, regression, UAT, etc.).

Familiarity with test case design and defect lifecycle.

Experience with bug-tracking and test management tools (e.g., Jira, TestRail, Zephyr).

Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Good communication and documentation abilities.

At least 5 years of QC experience handing 2 or more Jr. QCs.

Preferred (Nice-to-Have):

Experience with basic SQL for data validation.

Exposure to automation tools (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Postman).

Familiarity with Agile/Scrum and CI/CD pipelines.

Knowledge of APIs, web services, or mobile app testing.

Work Environment

May work closely with developers, product managers, UI/UX teams, and DevOps.

Fulltime onsite work.
