QA Automation Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled QA Automation Engineer to own and enhance the quality assurance function across its software platform. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining automated testing frameworks, ensuring comprehensive test coverage, identifying regressions before release, and partnering closely with engineering teams to deliver reliable, high-quality software.

In addition to quality assurance responsibilities, this position will serve as the primary escalation point for complex Tier 3 technical support issues, requiring strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with engineering teams to resolve production challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own, maintain, and continuously improve the QA automation framework and testing architecture
  • Design, develop, execute, and maintain automated test suites for web applications and APIs
  • Ensure comprehensive test coverage across new features, enhancements, and regression testing
  • Establish and enforce QA best practices, automation standards, and testing processes throughout the software development lifecycle
  • Identify, reproduce, document, and track software defects with clear technical details that enable engineering teams to resolve issues efficiently
  • Monitor application performance and identify performance degradation, regressions, and system anomalies
  • Generate QA metrics, testing reports, and release readiness assessments for stakeholders
  • Collaborate closely with software engineers, product managers, and technical leadership throughout development and release cycles
  • Participate in sprint planning, feature reviews, and release validation activities
  • Serve as the Tier 3 escalation point for complex technical support issues that cannot be resolved by frontline support teams
  • Investigate production issues, perform root cause analysis, and partner with engineering to implement long-term solutions
  • Drive continuous improvements in software quality, testing efficiency, and overall platform stability

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Quality Assurance with a strong focus on test automation
  • Proven experience designing and maintaining automated testing frameworks
  • Experience testing web applications, APIs, and modern SaaS platforms
  • Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, SDLC, and Agile development practices
  • Experience with test management and defect tracking tools
  • Excellent analytical, debugging, and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience supporting production applications and resolving complex technical issues
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently in a remote, collaborative environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with performance testing and application monitoring tools
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes
  • Experience supporting production environments as a Tier 3 support engineer or similar technical role
  • Experience working with cloud-hosted applications and distributed systems
  • Proficiency in one or more programming or scripting languages used for automation testing

Work Expectations

This is a full-time Independent Contractor position requiring exclusive dedication during scheduled working hours.

To promote accountability and ensure full-time engagement, contractors will be expected to participate in one of the company's approved work verification methods, which may include:

  • Time-tracking software to record work hours and activity levels during scheduled shifts, or
  • A live virtual collaboration session with screen sharing enabled during working hours

These measures are designed to support transparency, collaboration, and productivity within a fully remote work environment.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday; US Business Hours (Fixed night shift)

Work Type: Full-time Independent Contract, 40 hours per week; exclusive to our client

Salary Range: Php 95,000 - Php 135,000 net per month (take-home pay)
