Position Overview
The PV Installer is responsible for installing, assembling, and commissioning solar photovoltaic (PV) systems for residential, commercial, industrial, and utility-scale projects. The role ensures installations are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with engineering plans, company standards, manufacturer specifications, and applicable electrical and building codes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install solar PV modules, mounting structures, racking systems, inverters, combiner boxes, DC and AC electrical wiring, conduits, junction boxes, and related components under the supervision of licensed personnel.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, layout plans, and installation specifications.
- Perform cable management, grounding, labeling, and system termination.
- Assist in testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting installed PV systems.
- Conduct quality inspections to ensure installations comply with project requirements and industry standards.
- Observe and comply with all company safety policies, electrical safety procedures, and Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) regulations.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and materials in good working condition.
- Coordinate with Project Engineers, Electricians, Safety Officers, and Site Supervisors to ensure timely project completion.
- Report installation progress, issues, and material requirements.
- Perform housekeeping and maintain cleanliness of the work area.
- Perform preventive maintenance (inspection, panel cleaning, re-torquing, checking racking integrity/corrosion) and corrective maintenance (replacing faulty modules, inverters, optimizers, wiring) on installed systems.
- Basic knowledge of inverter commissioning procedures and mobile monitoring applications.
- Knowledge of PV module handling, storage, and transportation to prevent damage.
Qualifications:
Education
- High school or Technical-Vocational graduate; Bachelor's degree in Electrical Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is an advantage.
Experience
- At least 1 year of experience in solar PV installation (rooftop or ground-mounted solar projects), electrical installation, or construction works.
Knowledge and Skills
- Basic knowledge of solar photovoltaic systems and electrical installations.
- Ability to read installation drawings and technical plans.
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment.
- Basic understanding of electrical safety and safe work practices.
- Good problem-solving and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work at heights and in outdoor environments.
Certifications (Preferred)
- TESDA NC II in Photovoltaic (PV) Systems Installation or related certification.
- TESDA NC II in Electrical Installation and Maintenance (EIM) or related certification.
- TESDA NC III in Photovoltaic (PV) Systems Servicing or related certification.
- Construction Occupational Safety and Health (COSH) or Basic Safety Training certification.
Physical Requirements
- Physically fit and capable of lifting heavy equipment and materials.
- Comfortable working at heights, on rooftops, and in varying weather conditions.
- Willing to travel and work on project sites nationwide.
