Public Housing Compliance Specialist
Work Schedule: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM CT
Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Public Housing Compliance Specialist to oversee compliance for public housing properties, with a primary focus on tenant file compliance. Candidates with strong public housing compliance experience in other jurisdictions are encouraged to apply. The bulk of this role will involve reviewing and spot-checking tenant files through the company's electronic filing system to ensure documentation is complete, accurate, current, and compliant with applicable requirements. This individual will also review compliance documentation, processes, and SOPs and identify potential deficiencies or areas requiring corrective action.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and monitor tenant files to ensure compliance with applicable public housing requirements.
- Conduct regular tenant file audits and spot checks through the company's electronic filing system.
- Verify that tenant file documentation is complete, accurate, current, and properly maintained.
- Identify missing, incomplete, outdated, or non-compliant documentation and communicate findings to the appropriate team members or management.
- Review compliance-related documentation and records for accuracy and completeness.
- Review company procedures, processes, and SOPs to ensure alignment with applicable public housing and compliance requirements.
- Track identified compliance issues and outstanding documentation requirements.
- Communicate compliance findings and potential deficiencies to management.
- Assist in maintaining compliant processes and documentation practices.
- Support preparation for internal reviews, external compliance reviews, and audits.
- Maintain organized records of compliance reviews, findings, and outstanding issues.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Direct public housing or affordable housing compliance experience is strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of public housing documentation and tenant file compliance requirements.
- Experience with HUD and/or other affordable housing programs is a strong plus.
- Experience conducting tenant file audits, spot checks, or compliance reviews.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify compliance deficiencies.
- Ability to interpret applicable requirements and assess documentation for compliance.
- Comfortable independently reviewing large volumes of electronic files and documentation.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
