Property Management Accountant (QuickBooks & AppFolio)

Job Overview:
We are seeking a full-time Property Management Accountant with strong hands-on experience in both QuickBooks and AppFolio. Proficiency in QuickBooks is essential, as this role requires managing day-to-day accounting functions while utilizing AppFolio for property management operations.
The ideal candidate has a strong accounting background, excellent attention to detail, and hands-on experience managing financial and operational tasks within a property management environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accounting & Financial Operations
- Maintain accurate financial records and bookkeeping in QuickBooks.
- Record, categorize, and reconcile transactions in QuickBooks.
- Ensure accounting data is accurate and up to date across QuickBooks and AppFolio.
- Perform daily accounting activities, including accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
- Complete bank reconciliations and ensure financial records are accurate and up to date.
- Process and manage Smart Bills within AppFolio.
- Assist with month-end accounting tasks and financial reporting as needed.
- Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Property Management Accounting
- Manage accounting-related aspects of tenant move-ins and move-outs.
- Review and process security deposits, refunds, and property-related transactions.
- Maintain accurate tenant, owner, and vendor financial records within AppFolio.
- Support property accounting operations and ensure compliance with company procedures.
- AppFolio & System Support
- Utilize AppFolio to manage accounting, property, and tenant-related functions.
- Maintain accurate data and documentation within the platform.
- Provide ongoing AppFolio support and assist with system-related processes and workflows.
- Collaborate with internal teams to improve efficiency and maintain data integrity.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in property management accounting or a related accounting role.
- Advanced, hands-on experience using QuickBooks for day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping functions.
- Strong working knowledge of AppFolio and its property management accounting features.
- Experience working across both QuickBooks and AppFolio, ensuring accurate financial records and reporting.
- Experience performing bank reconciliations and managing day-to-day accounting processes.
- Hands-on experience with Smart Bill processing, tenant move-outs, and property management accounting functions.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and bookkeeping practices.
- High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
