POSITION OVERVIEW:
Reports to the KenEco Head of Operations.
Overall responsible in overseeing the forest conservation project. Coordinates with key stakeholders in the province in coordinative planning and implementation of forest and biodiversity conservation activities. Supervises internal leads in forest protection, sustainable livelihood, community/stakeholder engagement, and coordinates with the Kennemer Group's shared services heads (Finance, Admin/Procurement, HR, Data Mgmt) for timely provision of project support. Responsible for the performance of the project team in terms of meeting annual targets and performance indicators.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develops annual plans, workstream activities, and budget based on the project's key
performance indicators and allocates the deliverables to various teams and units within
the organization.
2. Institutes participatory planning and budgeting with its partner IP organization.
3. Maintains positive relations with the provincial consortium and its multi-sectoral
organizational members through regular updating and high-level coordination on
conservation plans and activities.
4. Directs engagements with municipal local government units on forest conservation
plans and works actively with the stakeholder engagement team.
5. Coordinates with technical leads on community, climate and biodiversity for regular monitoring and reporting.
6. Develops and reviews individual key performance indicators (KPIs) providing guidance on catch-up plans on workstream implementation delays and key issues impacting project performance.
7. Motivates team and external partners in the performance of duties and longevity of stay in the organization as well as in the partnership.
8. Recommends improvements in project implementation in accordance to the project design.
9. Provides timely updates to senior management and identifies key risks in project implementation.
REQUIREMENTS:
● College degree in natural resources management, business management, environment science, political science, or any related field.
● Preferably with masteral degree or units in environment science or business-related
courses or higher.
● Outstanding ability in team management and motivate staff in the performance of
duties.
● Program management experience incl. stakeholders, budget management, HR and
quality management for implementation.
● Minimum 5 years of professional experience in community-based forest conservation,
restoration, and natural resource management.
● Minimum 1-2 years experience coordinating with regional or provincial-level stakeholders from private sector, civil society and government in managing forest conservation and livelihood partnership projects
● Strategic and intuitive in relationship-building with deep understanding of organizational mandates and biases.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
