Role Description
The Project Manager is responsible for the overall planning, execution, monitoring, and completion of solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant construction projects. This role ensures that the project is delivered safely, on time, within the budget, and according to technical specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. The Project Manager leads multidisciplinary teams, coordinates with the owner, sub-contractors and relevant stakeholders, and oversees all phase of project development and construction.
Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesProject Planning and Management
- Lead the overall execution of solar photovoltaic (PV) projects from inception to completion.
- Develop detailed project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocation strategies.
- Establish project objectives, milestones, and deliverables.
- Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Ensure timely completion of all project phases, including engineering, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning.
Contract Administration
- Review and interpret project contracts, technical specifications, and scope of work.
- Manage contractual obligations, change orders, claims, and project documentation.
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, utility providers, and government agencies.
Budget and Cost Control
- Prepare and manage project budgets and cash flow forecasts.
- Monitor actual costs against approved budgets.
- Approve purchase requests and subcontractor billing.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality standards.
Engineering and Technical Coordination
- Coordinate with design and engineering teams to ensure accurate and timely deliverables.
- Review electrical, structural, and civil designs related to solar installations.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and local codes.
Procurement and Logistics
- Oversee procurement of solar modules, inverters, mounting systems, and balance-of-system materials.
- Coordinate material delivery schedules to align with project timelines.
- Manage subcontractors and suppliers.
Construction Management
- Supervise site teams, including Project Engineers, Foremen, and subcontractors.
- Ensure construction activities are carried out according to approved plans and specifications.
- Conduct regular site visits and progress meetings.
Quality Assurance and Quality Control
- Ensure implementation of QA/QC procedures throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review inspection and test reports.
- Resolve non-conformance issues promptly.
Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance
- Enforce company safety policies and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health standards.
- Promote a zero-incident culture on project sites.
Stakeholder Communication
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and key stakeholders.
- Prepare and present progress reports, schedules, and financial updates.
- Conduct coordination meetings and maintain strong client relationships.
Testing, Commissioning, and Handover
- Oversee system testing, energization, and commissioning activities.
- Ensure punch list items are completed.
- Facilitate project turnover and final documentation submission.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and evaluate project personnel.
- Foster teamwork, accountability, and professional development.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- Licensed Engineer is preferred.
- At least 5–10 years of experience in construction or renewable energy projects.
- Minimum 3–5 years in a project management role.
- Experience in solar photovoltaic (PV) projects is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong knowledge of project management, budgeting, and contract administration.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

- Experience in solar photovoltaic (PV) projects is highly preferred.
