Job Summary
The Project Engineer is responsible for the planning, execution, coordination, and monitoring of solar photovoltaic (PV) projects from project mobilization through completion. The role ensures that all engineering, construction, installation, testing, and commissioning activities are carried out in accordance with approved plans, technical specifications, safety regulations, quality standards, and project schedules.
Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesProject Planning and Coordination
- Assist in planning and scheduling project activities to meet project timelines.
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal departments.
- Prepare work schedules, manpower allocation, equipment requirements, and material requests.
- Review project drawings, specifications, and contract documents before implementation.
Site Supervision
- Supervise daily site activities to ensure work is performed according to approved plans and specifications.
- Monitor the progress of civil, structural, electrical, and solar PV installation works.
- Ensure proper utilization of manpower, materials, tools, and equipment.
- Resolve technical issues encountered during project execution.
Project Monitoring
- Monitor project progress against the approved schedule.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly accomplishment reports.
- Identify project risks, delays, and issues, and recommend corrective actions.
- Assist in maintaining project costs within the approved budget.
Quality Control
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, company standards, and applicable codes.
- Coordinate inspections and testing activities.
- Verify completed works before client inspection and turnover.
- Address punch list items and monitor corrective actions.
Safety Compliance
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies and applicable occupational safety regulations.
- Coordinate with the Safety Officer regarding site inspections and hazard mitigation.
- Promote a safe working environment for all personnel.
Documentation
- Maintain project documentation, including reports, inspection records, permits, and correspondence.
- Prepare Requests for Information (RFIs), work accomplishment reports, material requests, and change order documentation.
- Assist in preparing as-built drawings and turnover documents.
Client and Stakeholder Coordination
- Attend project coordination meetings with clients, consultants, and contractors.
- Provide project updates and respond to technical inquiries.
- Maintain professional relationships with project stakeholders.
Testing and Commissioning
- Assist in testing and commissioning of solar PV systems.
- Verify that all systems are operating according to design specifications.
- Support project turnover and client acceptance activities.
Other Responsibilities
- Perform other duties that may be assigned by the Project Manager or Operations Manager.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Licensed Engineer is preferred.
- At least 2–5 years of experience in construction or solar photovoltaic (PV) projects.
- Knowledge of solar PV systems, construction methods, electrical systems, and engineering standards.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and project management software such as MS Project or Primavera is an advantage.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Willing to travel and be assigned to various project sites.
