Job Description

Internal Role Title: Team and Project Lead

Work setup: We operate in a hybrid work environment, and we encourage applicants who are open to working in the office two days a week to apply.

Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 3PM to 11PM Manila time, overlaps with UK operating hours

Employment type: Permanent

Location: Makati City, Metro Manila

Pay range: Php 54,000 to Php 74,000

We are looking for a dedicated Team and Project Lead to join our Academic Business Development team. The individual will manage and a variety of projects particularly related to Licensing and Rights, ensuring compliance, efficient workflows, and the successful monetization of our content in the rapidly evolving AI landscape.

What will you do as a Team and Project Lead

Reporting to the Senior Business Development Manager, your accountabilities will include:

  • Manage a team of 3-5 BD Administrators and Associates, who will be supporting the BD's commercial activities particularly related to licensing and rights sales in an evolving AI landscape. Ensure that line reports have an appropriate workload and are delivering efficient support within their specific remits.
  • Manage, coordinate and track projects, particularly those related to licensing and rights sales, developing timelines, best practice and ensuring efficient execution from initiation to completion.
  • Stay up to date with the latest developments and tools in AI, and consider what might be useful to the BD Team's daily use, 3rd party partnerships and/or commercial strategy, advising the Director of BD accordingly.
  • Work closely with the Senior BD Manager to review and develop best practice across all BD operational processes to ensure that support team resources are used well and efficient.
  • Work with BD colleagues to establish and develop workflows, processes, templates and tools where there are gaps or inconsistencies, and ensure documentation is housed centrally and kept up-to-date by dedicated process owners within the team.

Essential:

  • Proven ability to plan, organize, and execute complex projects, including setting clear objectives, developing detailed timelines, allocating resources, and tracking progress.
  • Excellent skills in facilitating collaboration and communication among diverse internal teams (legal, editorial, technology, business development, finance) and external stakeholders (AI partners, authors, agents)
  • Competency in managing a small, specialised team, with a people-first line management approach, that aligns with Cambridge's values.
  • Competency in organizing, maintaining, analysing and reporting data related to content assets and licensing agreements
  • Ability to understand key contractual terms related to licensing, assist in the preparation and review of legal documents, and ensure compliance with agreement stipulations throughout the project lifecycle

Desirable:

  • A strong understanding of intellectual property, copyright, and licensing principles is highly desirable
  • Previous relevant work coordinating projects or providing administrative support, ideally within publishing, media, or a legal environment
  • Familiarity with core AI concepts, particularly in natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning, and an understanding of how AI tools are being used or developed in the publishing industry
