Summary
RONIN International is a global market research company that addresses the needs of research agencies through a portfolio of services designed to deliver best-in-class data collection services with B2B, opinion former, and healthcare audiences worldwide.
We own and develop RONIN Edge, a proprietary B2B expert network that combines a database of global verified professionals with structured profile data, rigorous validation, intelligent audience-matching tools, third-party API-led enrichment workflows and integrated incentive management, enabling us to identify, recruit and re-engage hard-to-reach participants for qualitative and quantitative strategic market research.
Our ambitious development roadmap now calls for a Product Owner to take ownership of the product backlog for RONIN Edge and act as the bridge between the people who use it and the team who build it. Reporting to the Lead Developer, you will turn real-world challenges into well-defined, prioritised work; while this is not a hands-on coding role, you should bring good technical knowledge and work closely with the development team across their sprint cycles.
As an international company, RONIN also have public-facing websites for clients and market research participants which are being folded into the remit of this newly created role.
The successful candidate will have a genuine desire to develop an in-depth understanding of the lifecycle of market research projects, and how RONIN Edge can positively impact this work at relevant touchpoints, acting as the internal champion of the platform to improve outcomes.
Core Duties and Technical Environment
Core duties
- Own and manage the product backlog for RONIN Edge, keeping it prioritised, well-defined, and aligned with business needs. Separately, own the backlog for RONIN's public-facing websites, prioritising content and feature updates alongside RONIN Edge.
- Triage incoming issues, distinguishing bugs from feature requests and assessing their impact, urgency, and technical complexity.
- Work directly with users across the business to understand how they use the software, surface pain points, and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Translate user needs into clear, actionable requirements and user stories for the development team.
- Partner with the development team across their two-week sprint cycles, refining tasks and helping to plan each development iteration.
- Prioritise new feature development while balancing demands for bug fixes and ongoing maintenance.
- Verify that completed work meets its requirements, signing off changes in a staging environment before the team releases them.
- Own change management for Edge and our websites, including documentation, user training, internal and external communications with relevant stakeholders, and the collection of user feedback to determine opportunities for improvement.
- Apply a technical, structured approach to learning and troubleshooting, helping users with different levels of technical understanding overcome challenges with the software.
- Ensure all activities conform to applicable standards such as ISO 20252 and ISO 27001, relevant codes of conduct, and applicable data protection law.
Technical Environment
While you will not be building the platform yourself, you should be comfortable understanding the role each of the following plays:
- Frontend: Blazor Web Assembly.
- Backend: .NET 10, gRPC communication, and Service Bus messaging.
- Database: MongoDB.
- Cloud: Azure technologies (App Services, Functions, Service Bus, Storage, Key Vault, Monitor, and Cognitive Services).
Required experience and skills
- Minimum 3 years in a product owner, project manager, business analyst, or comparable role working closely with a software development team.
- Hands-on experience defining, prioritising, and maintaining a product backlog.
- Solid understanding of how software is built and how the components of a system fit together within an architecture.
- Ability to reason about distributed systems at a conceptual level (sufficient to discuss them, not to build them).
- Confident at triaging and assessing issues, distinguishing bugs from feature requests and weighing impact, urgency, and complexity.
- Familiarity with the software development lifecycle and agile or scrum delivery practices (e.g. two-week sprint cycles).
- Experience working directly with end users to understand business needs and processes, gather outcome-based requirements and resolve challenges.
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to bridge technical and non-technical audiences, including junior and senior stakeholders.
- A proactive, results-oriented mindset, able to work independently while collaborating effectively in a small team, with excellent time management.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as business, computer science, information systems, or product management (or equivalent practical experience in a business setting).
Desirable experience and skills
- Product owner or agile certification (e.g. CSPO, SAFe POPM).
- Conceptual understanding of APIs, databases, and cloud-hosted services.
- Familiarity with backlog and issue tracking tools, such as GitHub Issues.
- Awareness of LLM and vector search concepts.
- Experience in a B2B, market research, or data-driven environment.
