Product Lead - AI Fintech

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on Product Lead with experience in banking, financial services, or fintech to join a growing technology organisation.

This role is designed for a strong product professional who is comfortable starting as an Individual Contributor (IC), taking direct ownership of product initiatives, requirements, customer needs, and delivery. As the business and product function grow, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to build and lead a product team.

You will work closely with engineering, technology, business, and client stakeholders to shape products that solve real problems across banking and financial services.

The ideal candidate combines strong product thinking, hands-on execution, commercial awareness, and the ability to grow into a leadership role.

Key Responsibilities

Product Strategy & Ownership

• Own the end-to-end product lifecycle from discovery and ideation through development, launch, and continuous improvement.
• Translate business and customer needs into clear product strategies, roadmaps, requirements, and priorities.
• Identify opportunities to improve existing products and develop new solutions for banking and fintech customers.
• Define product vision, objectives, success metrics, and priorities aligned with business goals.
• Balance customer value, business impact, technical feasibility, cost, risk, and time-to-market.

Hands-on Product Management

• Work directly with engineering and technical teams to define product requirements, user stories, workflows, acceptance criteria, and product specifications.
• Participate actively in product discovery, solution design, sprint planning, reviews, testing, and product releases.
• Analyse customer feedback, market trends, product performance, and competitive offerings to drive product decisions.
• Work closely with UX/UI, engineering, QA, data, AI/ML, and other teams to deliver high-quality products.
• Take ownership of product issues and work with relevant teams to resolve them effectively.
• Ensure products are intuitive, scalable, reliable, and aligned with customer and regulatory requirements.

Banking & Fintech Product Development

• Apply knowledge of banking and financial services to develop practical technology solutions.
• Understand areas such as digital banking, payments, lending, core banking, financial platforms, customer onboarding, or other fintech solutions.
• Work with stakeholders to understand complex financial workflows and translate them into effective product solutions.
• Consider security, compliance, data privacy, risk, and operational requirements throughout the product lifecycle.

Customer & Commercial Engagement

• Engage directly with customers and business stakeholders to understand their challenges, requirements, and priorities.
• Conduct product discussions, workshops, demonstrations, and discovery sessions where required.
• Work with sales and business development teams to support customer opportunities and solution positioning.
• Identify opportunities for product enhancement, account expansion, and new business.
• Develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and act as a trusted product partner.

Future Product Leadership

• Initially operate as a hands-on IC while establishing product processes, standards, and ways of working.
• As the product organisation grows, take on increasing responsibility for mentoring and leading product managers/product specialists.
• Establish product management practices covering roadmap planning, prioritisation, discovery, delivery, and product performance.
• Provide product direction and coaching to team members.
• Partner with senior leadership to shape the longer-term product organisation and strategy.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 6–10+ years of product management/product development experience, preferably within banking, financial services, fintech, or enterprise technology.
• Strong hands-on experience managing products from concept to launch and ongoing enhancement.
• Experience working closely with software engineering and technical teams.
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycles, Agile methodologies, and product delivery.
• Ability to translate business requirements into clear product specifications and actionable development requirements.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Experience working with senior business, technology, and client stakeholders.
• Good understanding of banking, payments, fintech, or financial technology environments.
• Strong communication, presentation, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with digital banking, payments, lending, core banking, wealth management, or financial platforms.
• Experience working in a fast-growing fintech or technology environment.
• Exposure to AI/ML, APIs, cloud platforms, SaaS, microservices, or data-driven products.
• Experience working with enterprise clients or regulated financial institutions.
• Experience supporting presales, solution consulting, product demonstrations, or client workshops.
• Previous experience mentoring junior product managers or taking informal product leadership responsibilities.
