ABOUT THE ROLE
As part of the Swooc Games Team, your mission is to design commercial products (primarily indoor/outdoor furniture and children's products), coordinate associated manufacturing processes, and collaborate with the team to turn ideas into marketable products.
- Design products from ideation through final production in collaboration with the product development team, other department heads, and manufacturers.
- Ensure products are designed to be cost-effective, suitable for mass production, and easy for customers to assemble, particularly for knock-down (KD) products.
- Coordinate with the product development team and vendors/manufacturers to finalize product concepts and specifications.
- Create rough/initial product designs using sketches and design software.
- Create 3D models and 2D technical drawings using Autodesk Inventor, including complete product designs, dimensions, and specifications.
- Create step-by-step visual presentations and documentation for customer assembly guides.
- Select appropriate product materials and develop manufacturing processes based on product requirements.
- Create Bills of Materials (BOMs), exploded assembly views, and assembly instructions.
- Test and evaluate product prototypes to identify and correct design flaws and opportunities for improvement.
- Evaluate product prototypes to identify and address potential safety hazards.
- Collaborate with shipping and logistics teams to identify cost-effective manufacturing procedures and materials.
- Analyze the feasibility, cost, and potential return on investment (ROI) of product ideas.
- Work with manufacturers to troubleshoot and resolve design- and manufacturing-related issues.
ABOUT YOU
The ideal candidate must have the following knowledge, skills, and work experience.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent proven industry experience in furniture/product design and manufacturing.
- 3+ years of product engineering experience is required.
- Experience designing children's furniture, Montessori furniture, wooden home products, or other ready-to-assemble wooden products is strongly preferred.
- Key Competencies: Creative/Innovative, Highly Organized & Effective Planning, Strategic Thinking/Visioning, Results-Oriented, Detail-Oriented, High Standards
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software, such as Siemens NX (Unigraphics NX), PTC Creo, SolidWorks, or Autodesk Inventor is preferred.
- Working knowledge of ASME Y14.5 engineering drawing standards
- Experience or exposure to parts fabrication, 3D printing, plastic injection molding, and conventional/CNC machining is an advantage.
- Knowledge of furniture/wood-product construction, assembly methods, hardware/fasteners, material selection, and design for manufacturing (DFM) is highly preferred.

CONTRACT TYPE
We are flexible and open to either:
- Part-Time (approximately 20–25 hours per week | 08:00am to 01:00pm EST), OR
- Per-Project / Contract (paid per approved product design)
We'll work with the right candidate to determine the best arrangement.

- $10-15 per hour depending on experience
