Position Overview

We are looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Product Content Manager to own the accuracy, compliance, and presentation of our online product catalog. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in e-commerce product content management, regulatory/compliance awareness (including ATF requirements), inventory data feed management, SEO-driven taxonomy, and digital merchandising. The successful candidate must be comfortable managing multiple vendor data feeds, collaborating cross-functionally with compliance, marketing, and merchandising teams, and delivering consistent, data-driven reporting on catalog performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, edit, and maintain product listings, descriptions, specifications, images, and attributes for accuracy and compliance
  • Ensure all product information adheres to industry standards, legal regulations, and company policies, including ATF compliance
  • Collaborate with the compliance team to stay updated on relevant firearm sales regulations
  • Generate purchase orders per procurement and build out product listings for each new item on a PO
  • Manage and integrate product data feeds from multiple vendors for up-to-date availability, pricing, and descriptions
  • Utilize inventory management systems to ensure synchronization between the online platform and vendor inventory
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data feed accuracy and consistency
  • Develop and maintain an organized, customer-friendly taxonomy for firearms, ammunition, and accessories
  • Optimize product descriptions and category pages for SEO to improve visibility and drive organic traffic
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to align SEO practices with broader digital marketing strategies
  • Curate and organize collections, promotions, and product features based on customer interest, seasonality, and inventory
  • Ensure product display aligns with customer needs, brand guidelines, and marketing objectives
  • Coordinate with the merchandising and customer service teams for consistent presentation across all product-related content
  • Monitor product page performance and analyze trends using analytics tools
  • Make data-driven recommendations for content and presentation improvements
  • Generate reports to share insights and progress with key stakeholders

Key Performance Objectives

First 6-8 Weeks

  • Achieve 98% or higher compliance accuracy across reviewed product listings
  • Establish resolution workflows for compliance and data feed issues within target turnaround times (24-48 hours)
  • Complete initial audit of product taxonomy and identify SEO improvement opportunities
  • Through Project Completion (3-5 Months)
  • Sustain 99% or higher accuracy for pricing, availability, and description data across all platforms
  • Deliver measurable improvement in organic search visibility and category navigation performance
  • Deliver on-time, stakeholder-ready performance reports with actionable, data-driven insights

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field (preferred)
  • Prior experience in e-commerce product content management, catalog management, or digital merchandising
  • Experience working within a regulated retail industry (firearms, ammunition, or similar) strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems and multi-vendor data feed integration
  • Working knowledge of SEO best practices for product and category pages
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage competing priorities across multiple product lines
  • Comfortable working with analytics and reporting tools to track performance and inform recommendations
  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to write clear, compliant, and customer-friendly product content

Work Environment

  • Project-basis engagement, estimated 3-5 months in duration
  • Full-time work hours, aligned to the organization's Eastern time zone working hours (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM ET), 8 hours per day
  • Remote, independent contractor status
  • Candidate must agree to hold this role exclusively, with no other projects or clients unless otherwise agreed upon with the client, and that no sub-contracting of work will occur
  • Candidate must be available to download the software requirements from the client before starting the role, generally at the start of the first day
  • Candidate must provide their own personal laptop and at least one additional monitor that will be your exclusive work laptop (not used or shared by others)
  • Candidate must provide a backup device in case of a laptop or equipment failure
  • Candidate must have a backup power supply in case of power outage to ensure work continuity
  • Candidate must have a backup internet connection (such as a secondary ISP or mobile hotspot) in case of an outage to ensure work continuity

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive independent contractor pay commensurate with experience
  • Fixed-term project engagement (3-5 months), with potential to extend or convert based on business need and performance
