Position: Contracts Manager

Hours: 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM PHT to align with Canadian working hours

Work Arrangement: Remote-First / Hybrid (Work from Home with occasional in office days)

The Procurement team impacts everything and everyone. As a Contracts Manager within the TELUS Procurement Service Desk you will be supporting TELUS Communications Inc. (Canada) in the execution of global contracts. The Procurement Service Desk provides a unified sourcing and contracting experience supporting tail spend contracts across all procurement categories, with a strong IT focus. The role focuses on supporting new contracts, renewals, and RFx processes. The role focuses on developing sourcing strategies for Tail Spend across all TELUS categories and businesses, conducting necessary research to maximize cost savings on supplier products and services. As an excellent communicator, you will guide business stakeholders throughout the procurement lifecycle while leading vendor negotiations. This includes developing robust negotiation strategies and ensuring commercial alignment in executing the plans that support our overarching strategic objectives. You will be supported by the Procurement Team Leader, while contributing to team goals and will have an unparalleled opportunity to grow and develop your Procurement skills.

Here's How You Will Make an Impact

  • Contract Negotiation: Prepare, manage, and review contract redlines, establishing both commercial elements and legal terms and conditions. Develop and draft the business elements and legal framework documentation for products and services procured
  • Deal Making & Negotiation: Lead contract negotiations, strategic sourcing activities, and cross-functional projects. Establish robust contract terms for pricing, performance management, and SLA development. Contribute to risk mitigation best practices
  • Unified Sourcing & Contract Execution: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to determine product and service requirements, utilizing best practices to source and procure efficiently.
  • Process Optimization & Innovation: Drive process analysis to ensure the optimization of the sourcing process. Utilize tools and advocate for innovative approaches (like automation or GenAI) to improve efficiency, streamline activities, and enhance risk management.
  • Supplier Governance: Support supplier compliance to TELUS Procurement programs, including ESG, Supplier Sustainability, and Diversity requirements
  • Data Analytics & Reporting: Track and report on savings data. Utilize spend category intelligence and analytics to inform sourcing strategies and track Total Value of Ownership.

What you Bring

  • Communication: Effective communicator and negotiator, building partnerships internally and externally with all stakeholders.
  • Procurement Expertise: Procurement knowledge and experience preferably with IT contracts (On-prem Software, SaaS, Cloud, Hardware, and Professional Services.
  • Contracting Expertise: Experience with contract redlines and familiarity with standard legal terminology. Ability to support structuring, writing, and editing legal contra
  • Comfort with data: Experience analyzing spend data and presenting it in clear, actionable formats.
  • Negotiation & Business Acumen: Foundational understanding of negotiation principles and commercial practices. Developing business and financial acumen. Experience supporting supplier negotiations and contract execution. Ability to balance competing priorities, meet tight deadlines, and maintain professional communication while managing stakeholder expectations.

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (business, supply chain, finance, etc.)
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a fast-paced, complex corporate environment
  • Competency with Google and Microsoft office suite of tools. SAP and Ariba skills are an asset. Supply Chain Management, APICS or MCIPS certification is an asset.
  • Paralegal certification, Contract Management certification, or equivalent practical legal background is a strong asset
