About the Role:
The Procurement Buyer is responsible for the sourcing and management of raw materials and supplier portfolios, with a focus on feed additives, supplements, and pharmaceutical inputs. This role requires a strong understanding of procurement strategies, importation processes, supplier relationship management, and product quality standards to ensure consistent and reliable supply.
The ideal candidate will have strong communication and stakeholder management skills, enabling them to build transparent and professional relationships with both internal teams and external partners. This role also involves identifying and implementing process improvements to optimize cost, quality, and supply, supporting overall operational excellence and long-term business success.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure supply continuity by working closely with Material Planners, suppliers, and global category stakeholders
- Monitor inventory levels and align stock positions with procurement strategies and supply-demand plans
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies that enhance sustainability, efficiency, and quality
- Lead sourcing activities, including supplier negotiation and selection for raw materials
- Manage contracts, including review, negotiation, and execution
- Provide regular cost projections and market price updates to cross-functional teams (e.g., Finance, Procurement, and Technical teams)
- Analyze market trends (bearish and bullish) to support pricing strategies and procurement decisions
- Review spend data and identify cost optimization opportunities
- Identify alternative materials, brands, or sources to improve cost efficiency and product performance
- Build and manage a competitive supplier network while maintaining strong supplier relationships
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Quality Assurance, Supply Chain, Operations, and Finance) to ensure supply security and address non-conformities
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years experience in direct procurement, preferably within agribusiness, manufacturing, or trading industries
- Strong knowledge of sourcing, supplier management, and importation processes
- Experience working in a cross-functional and fast-paced environment
- Willingness to work on-site (Monday to Friday, standard business hours), with flexibility for extended hours when required
- Open to travel for site visits to suppliers and third-party service providers as needed
